Say what you want about Berserk’s (1997) toned down grimness, but the inclusion of witty Tell Me Why intro and melancholic synthpop soundtrack does wonders with the overthetop campy masculinity. I love the emotional texture it gives to the „emotionally stunted big guy with a sword kills everything“

God I don’t miss the sort of gamer rage that critical writing tend(s) to produce. My fb is now full of 40k fans feeling like I am attacking their very souls. Somebody wrote a report to the public TV (I wrote for) council for me being imperial when writing about space marines and fascism.

What I like about 3D gamedev are happy accidents like this Didn’t plan on having this diffuse halo effect with my sun. It just so happened by combining the altered skybox and volumetric clouds plugin. Now it’s one of the main screenshots of the game.

A really good take by @lewisgordon.bsky.social: perhaps this repetetive, empty aesthetics is very timid in the face of chaotic and unpredictable reality. Unified, repeating office space anxiety (Matrix, Fight Club ...) was already there in the late 90s. artreview.com/the-life-and...

The Life and Death of the ‘Liminal Space’

‘Backrooms’, the directorial debut by Kane Parsons, is going gangbusters at the box office, but is this just ‘prestige slop’?
