Here's the unspoken thing: the livability of the planet in my middle age depends on a rapid shift in American politics that simply may not happen, and it will be especially unreachable if we do the same concessions to dark money funded doubtmongering on the climate side as we're debating with MAHA

I shouldn't be surprised that the right is like, "don't make grandma pay taxes on her tips! she has to save money for her husband's cancer treatment" and not a single dem will campaign on, "no grandma should need to work, much less to pay for their husbands cancer treatment." and yet!

Imagine being a Dem politician in the year 2026 and thinking the problem is issue litmus tests and not the lukewarm soup of a platform they've been trying to force feed us for... idk 50 years?

so self-identifying as an american is all it takes? sounds like we've got billions of dollars to save, a couple federal agencies to abolish, and many thousands of people to *free* and pay reparations to 🤷♀️

Also everyone saying to build a new stadium as an economic boost on the South or West sides needs to take several seats.

I have worked "in tech" long enough for Careless People to read as a satisfying, if unsurprising, undressing of the emporers. I think it's an important read for _everyone_ and will be obnoxiously recommending it to everyone I know.
Every so often, it just comes back to me in full force. The political and economic order that allowed this man to come to power is obviously no longer tenable. The leaders who let it happen obviously have to be replaced. This is an epoch defining failure and we have to turn the page completely.
