It’s Christmas Eve and I’m in my childhood bedroom wrapping gifts listening to the sound of my mother’s kitchenaid mixer downstairs mix the yeast roll dough for Christmas dinner. This exact scenario has played out over and over and over…

I sometimes get so teary driving around my hometown. Everything changes and sometimes for the better and sometimes for not and never in ways I could have predicted, and yet here I am a living tower of memory, of what was, who passes through and keeps saying to herself “it didn’t used to be this way”

I’m somehow on horse treat TikTok, meaning, over the course of two days, I saw videos of horses eating treats, then slowly, horse owners taking bites of horse treats, and now I’m seeing videos of people who have nothing to do with horses order horse treats to their homes and eat them.

Keep thinking about how in Weapons Aunt Gladys looks like/is styled like a Warhol painting and Campbell’s soup was what she fed everyone. Warhol’s commentary on the mass reproduction of soup; something deeply cultural, medicinal, nourishing, suddenly condensed, impersonal, branded, corporate.
