If anyone doubts the profound impact of climate crisis on butterflies, look at the peak flight week of the Silver-studded Blue at Studland NNR. On average it flies 4 weeks earlier than 50 yrs ago, but first few years vs last two, its 8 weeks! Its doing well but other sp aren't @ukbms.bsky.social

It’s magical to be surrounded by Willow Tit fledglings. This one left the nest yesterday morning and is now c. 330 m northeast with 6 siblings and 2 tired parents! Interestingly, they’re just c. 85 m away from another Willow Tit nest due to fledge tomorrow. It’s about to get busy in this woodland!
A beautiful sight of about 35 Small Pearl-bordered Fritillaries Boloria selene near Maceley Cove west of Prawle Point, Devon yesterday. I have never seen so many of these butterflies in one spot before.
