Hi new followers! I love creating illustrations and infographics to share information, especially when it comes to killer whales. Here is a recent one I made covering killer whales of the Gulf of Mexico (and that’s the only name I’ll ever call it 😉)

An infographic titled “Killer whales of the Gulf of Mexico” with a blue gradient background. In the center are a male and female killer whale. On the right of the male is a circular map of the Gulf of Mexico. Below the title reads the text “Killer whales (Orcinus orca) are rarely seen in the Gulf of Mexico, but recent research has suggested at least some individuals may regularly occur the gulf in offshore waters. A minimum of 49 individuals have been photo-identified here, and some have been resighted over a 26-year period. In the bottom left, there are illustrations of a sperm whale, Pygmy killer whales, and a generic dolphin. Text above them reads: “Diet: Killer whales in the Gulf of Mexico have been seen pursuing and attacking other cetaceans, such as dwarf sperm whales, dolphins, and sperm whales.” In the bottom right, there are illustrations of two multi-colored DNA strands. Text reads: “Genetics: Two haplotypes have been found in killer whales from the Gulf of Mexico, one of which is not found elsewhere. This suggests some of the whales may be resident to the Gulf, or descendants of a unique maternal line.”
