Hi, nice to meet you. Be excellent to each other. Twin Cities, MN.
TIL this fuckin' ghoul is still alive.
Karl Rove's little whiteboard on Fox News, lol. Like... idk, man. I'm not sure that the strategy of expecting people to know a bunch of Hasan Piker lore AND them caring enough about it to the point that it affects who they vote for is going to work, but okay.
In other "news", I plan to be the King of the Neighborhood of Make-Believe.

Among the ruins, one wall stood alone. Within the wall, a last voice said, over and over, “Today is August 5, 2026, today is August 5, 2026, today is …”
As a child of the 1980s, I concur. We thought we were going to be killed by the Russians/nuclear war, AIDS, or oddly enough, from not drinking enough milk. Oh, and some evil-doer was going to kidnap you if mom didn't take you to the mall to get photographed and finger printed at some weird kiosk.
The thing that’s hard to explain about growing up in the 70s is that a) many many of us read that story. In school. b) we genuinely thought we would die in nuclear fire or winter. There was a weird part of your brain that was sure you’d never be a grown-up, or certainly Old.
I hope some MN legislators have the will to write a bill banning private, for-profit slave pens.
CoreCivic's name used to be Corrections Corporation of America (that means private prisons, which we worked to stop in 2016); and they 'rebranded' in 2016. These fuckers don't belong in Minnesota; and this is some bullshit.
We used to be a country. A proper country.
Good Morning! #OnThisDay Aug 4 1937: Chicago Milwaukee St Paul & Pacific Train No. 100 "Hiawatha" departs the Milwaukee Road Depot in downtown Minneapolis, heading for Chicago. At top speeds of over 100mph, these were the fastest scheduled trains in the world.
Minneapolis and St. Paul in a race over which city has the shittiest mayor. MPLS is in the lead, but StP is QUICKLY closing the gap.
Scoop: In a private call with top officials, St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her lashed at requests to delay a homeless encampment sweep. She attributed her anger to “fuckery” being said about her in public, 3 officials told @axios.com . One state rep logged off in frustration. www.axios.com/local/twin-c...
Not going to listen to that, but I'm going to venture a guess that Toni wants to listen to "all sides". Man, there are some sides that you absolutely do not need to fuckin' listen or give a soapbox to.
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
Somewhere Britta Curl-Salemme is lacing up her skates, thinking "I want to be part of that, too." while a solitary tear runs down her face.
I think it's interesting that the most prominent people opposing trans inclusion at the Lynx/Fever game were there representing a for-profit company that has built its brand around this "issue." www.them.us/news/sophie-...
Main Street in Park Rapids is always an interesting place: Art galleries, clothing boutiques, candy stores, and left-leaning independent book stores all with a splattering of jacked-up diesel pickups driven by Grunt Style wearing chuds.
My rental car for the weekend is a dark SUV with dark windows and Texas plates. 😕
My parents bought a set of Funk & Wagnalls in the early 1980s. Spent many, many hours picking a volume and just reading.
Were you a child who read The World Book Encyclopedia for fun?
The WNBA remains the most inclusive professional sports league. Unless you're trans.
WNBA suspends Seattle Storm minority owner for being rude to transphobic shitheads:
I’m happy this guy considers himself part of the Twin Cities but I think I can answer the question he says “we” should be asking: residents of Prescott, Wisconsin paid zero of their dollars to build Metro Transit’s light-rail system, and pay zero dollars to police it.
Mike, the owner/cook of The Best Steak House on University and Victoria.
New St. Paul mayor, wrong answers only.
Dumb whataboutism stuff like this reduces sexual assault, which men are already reluctant to report, to a triviality. Don't do this.
Never in 4.5 billion years could I imagine being the wealthiest person on the planet, yet be so miserable I have to make the lives of everyone around me, and millions more, a living hell.
MFW I discover incorrect DNS settings which mean I may have missed out on months of emails.
Why is the sidewalk in front of the downtown library, on the Hennepin Ave side, closed when it appears to be just fine?
