Amnesty International put out a major report documenting the influence of UK based anti trans gender critical organizations and their funding. Within hours, GC groups threatened defamation lawsuits and Amnesty was forced to pull it down. Proving the point they're anti rights. Anyways, here it is.
Similarly, I have no idea what a "seam" is and at this point I'm too afraid to ask...

We turned around and went back just to get a picture after driving by this.
Diffusion models treat every part of an image equally. → Same number of steps. Same compute. But images aren’t uniform. 🤔 Some regions are easy, others are hard. So why force the model to treat them the same? 🧵

I just published a deep-dive into the 250-hour build behind syntaqlite, a SQLite formatter and LSP I built using AI agents. AI agents were the only reason built this after 8 years of wanting but there's a psychological toll to AI-assisted engineering. The post-mortem: lalitm.com/post/buildin...
Eight years of wanting, three months of building with AI
For eight years, I’ve wanted a high-quality set of devtools for working with SQLite. Given how important SQLite is to the industry1, I’ve long been puzzled that no one has invested in building a reall...

This has been on my reading list for a few days. It articulates extraordinarily well a lot of my concerns around the cognitive offloading that AI tools now allow. It also applies broadly in many more fields than just astrophysics.

Little did they know (or care; the villains!) that Schmidhuber, himself, actually came up with the first agentic system to do EXACTLY this decades ago. Where do these revisionists get off with this vicious libel?

This applies not just to academics.
What should academics be doing right now? I have been writing up some thoughts on what the research says about effective action, and what universities specifically can do. davidbau.github.io/poetsandnurs... It's on GitHub. Suggestions and pull requests welcome. github.com/davidbau/poe...
We updated the plots we use to measure the open model ecosystem at interconnects, to guide The ATOM Project, and to understand what's happening. We have ~8 plots to summarize what's happening. First, the high level picture showing China's growing adoption lead.
