Watching this Apple event tout how iPhones will soon be able to record ambient audio/conversations and transcribe "high level notes" for you. It's billed as private and end-to-end encrypted, but I think the bigger harm is the normalization of always-listening devices. It's creepy and not normal.

It's a ploy to make you believe that. These games are all by the same 3 or 4 publishers. This is a concerted effort to make consumers accept AI.

I'm pretty sure that any physical book you can acquire as a person or company is always a copy; or in other words, not the original.
404 Media@404media.co · last mo.It's possible to scan books without "cutting" them, which literally means ripping off the spine. But why are AI companies doing this? For one, it's cheaper and faster. Also, in a case against Anthropic, a judge ruled it was NOT a copyright violation because the original had been destroyed.
if there is ever a reboot of Quake, MachineGames had better be at the helm. The add-on episodes they've done are excellent.

Christian has completely and utterly nailed (heh) the crunchy low / no interpolated samples digital audio stuff that was all over the original Quake soundtrack.

who did the soundtrack for the new Quake Dawn Of The Machine pack? They really understood the assignment, because they got the gritty poorly-interpolated sample textures nailed properly, which I very much appreciate.
Damn, it's almost as if these things were intended for another purpose…
