...really wishing I had an art friend in town right about now. Trying to stare at this room full of supplies and tools and ask myself: "...strip out everything I have to do from my life. Strip out timelines, deadlines, money, audience ...what do I want to make?" It's right there under the surface.

I'm digging through some paleolithic and neolithic art and I came across something I had never seen before: The world's oldest puppet/articulated figure! archive.org/details/TheO... Humans have apparently been making furries and had puppeteers since the Upper Paleolithic at least!

The Oldest Puppet Or Doll An Articulated Figure Made Of Mammoth Ivory ( 28 000 Years Ago)

Earliest discovered example of a puppet or dollMale ivory statuette found in an upper Palaeolithic (Pavlovian) burial at Brno near Dolni Vestonic,  Moravia in the Czech Republic. Around  28 000 years ...

F'YEAH EXECUTIVE FUNCTION. GO HRT GO! Replied back to everyone who responded to my little comic a couple days ago. Now. Let's goooooooooo!

A local business is hosting a contest for a sticker design with a $100 gift card and it’s like…why don’t you just pay an artist you like for one? What happens to all the submissions you don’t choose but you were sent print quality copies of (as per contest rules)? Why is commissioning so taboo?

My family visited last week & it was a lot. My relationship with them is extremely complicated, but I think that was the first time that nothing had gone painful. I'm not really seen as who I am by them & having something that WAS me and something I valued looked at was...weird. #art #comic #artist

Page one of a multi panel comic. Panel one: anthro tiger character thinking to themselves, "One of my parents did something weird recently. I'm 39. I've been an artist a long...long time. Done it as a job for ten years. My parents do not ask me about my art. One of them a few years ago asked if I still made art. You know. My job. That one hurt."

Panel two: The anthro tiger character continues to think while staring at the sky, "For some strange reason I cannot fathom one of them actually asked me about my art. They said my other parent had told them my art was making money. They were impressed. It made money the whole time."Page two of a multipanel comic. Panel one: the tiger anthro has a confused expression surrounded by question marks. They narrate, "I didn't get mad. I think I was too confused to register what was happening. So I showed them. The pewter. The mask patterns. The work files. The pyrography and carvings. They started asking questions. Showing them one thing prompted more questions. Often asking how I do it. So I answered those questions too. At one point they exclaimed in awe that the patterns had to be hundreds of hours of work. They are. None of it was new."

Panel two: a closeup of the tiger anthro's hand working on a cool skull drawing. They narrate, "It was really weird. I can remember being "warned" of calling demons with my art in middle school because I drew tiger skulls with blood tears. Cringe maybe, hardly demonic. I learned not to share and had no real interest in their approval anyway." A speech bubble from the tiger says, "Hee hee this is going to be so cool <3"

Panel three: The anthro tiger shrugs leaning upwards and thinks, "I have no idea what they thought I'd been doing these last 27 years. Decided it ultimately didn't matter."Third and final page of a multipanel comic. Panel one: The tiger anthro sits upright and thinks, "It was nice. I didn't need it. I was put on this earth to make art whether it was seen or not."

Panel two: The anthro tiger character is running across grass and calling their two dogs, "You boys wanna go inside?". A final thought narration from the tiger is, "I didn't make all that stuff sitting around. If I wanna make more then I better get inside and get started."

Today I learned the US is having another crisis blood shortage. If you can donate (that includes having the time/time off, capability of getting to the site, & so on) please do because microfauna like me can’t. Even with heavy clothes and boots I’m 5lbs short of the weight minimum & can’t help. :(

Uh asking for a friend. ...how many of you making-stuff folks got tested for ADHD as an adult? If you were diagnosed and tried meds and they worked for you how did that impact your art making?

Great. Fantastic. We now have gigantic European hornets somewhere on property because they're angrily swarming my art studio window due to being attracted to (And apparently hating) lights. I have zero idea where a nest is but that was easily 15+ individuals. I don't want to be wasped taking my-

Surprise! Made some tiny Warding Paw totems in pewter and I'm loving how they came out. These will get patina and decorations. I'll have these available this Friday at 2pm PST. As always please check my bio for links!

Our resident wild black rat snake Basil is so used to me at this point that he A) doesn’t bother fleeing, B) doesn’t musk, and C) can be carried like a pet. The coop is totally caged in hardware cloth but he’s gotten smart & uses the automatic door. Also. STAY OUT OF MY COOP. NO EGGS FOR SNAKES.

I have derailed my family’s group chat and am now campaigning for the election of Devil’s Hole Pupfish. Making this post so I remember to make art for the campaign later. Look at these little guys. They couldn’t do worse.

This is the damage I'm having to clean up done to my files by Google Photos. The GOOD news is there does seem to be all the original files -somewhere- but now I'm seeing how my backups filled up so bad. THERE ARE SO MANY "COPIES" created by Google fucking up. This shittiness is egregious.
