It's our last day excavating this new iguanodont species (for this year, at least) and thus my last stream from this site this year, too. Tune in and hang out with us @ twitch.tv/paleontologizing

Happy #FossilFriday! Here's just a handful of the jackets we've pulled out of our bonebed over the past couple weeks. Unnamed (new!) iguanodont dinosaur Earliest Cretaceous Cedar Mountain Formation, ~142 mya BLM federal public land Grand County, Utah, USA
Really exciting new paleobiogeographic publication 👀
Exhilarated to share a 2nd @science.org cover article this month from our lab @ucberkeleyofficial.bsky.social! A collaboration with US & Mexico colleagues on the role of a Mexican biogeographic holding pen in shaping the Great American Biotic Interchange (GABI)(1/11) www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
Don DeBlieux's talk in Moab was a big success yesterday -- and Paleontologizing got a shoutout!
I've been digging dinosaurs since 2011 and not had a bad flip yet 💪🏽

Someone send this researcher some ice cold water and juice, STAT! He is out in the Utah desert digging up fossil dinosaurs with a crew from the Utah State Museum of Natural History.
TOO HOT
Godzilla Nooo! Not the UN! You’ll be receiving a strongly worded letter for this!
THAT'S BETTER. Tune in now @ twitch.tv/paleontologizing as I uncover more of this bone
It's still early in the excavation of our iguanodont quarry and I don't have any impressive bones to show you yet for #FossilFriday -- -- so here's a plastic model of Iguanodon instead. Fingers crossed we get into the Bone Zone soon 🤞🏽

You'd be disappointed to know how often I hear this from people, except they're being earnest
we can use the machine to generate what dinosaurs looked like. no more yucky digging
When you're the junior member of an esteemed group
That scene got so much funnier to me after watching @paleontologizing.bsky.social and finding out how little a dinosaur dig costs. He's crowdfunded them via Twitch. I'd bet just one of those land rovers in the park alone cost more than funding Dr. Grant and Dr. Sattler's dig for three years.
the most realistic scene in Jurassic Park is when two scientists make a questionable decision — traveling to an undisclosed location with a strange man — on the promise of three years of modest funding
That's right! I'm back in the field and streaming on #Twitch (hopefully) every day through August 6
We will have Starlink with Paleontologizing live streaming every day from 3-5, -- August 6. #FossilFriday www.twitch.tv/paleontologi... Early work at Jim's Place at Doellings Bowl at the Dawn of the Cretaceous in eastern Utah. @societyofvertpaleo.bsky.social @utahpaleo-ufop.bsky.social

This might seem hot, but rest assured it'll cool down by the time I arrive there on Tuesday (the forecast says it'll only be 103)
