I like Macklemore as much as the next dude with a 401k but condemning Black artists against his example is to reverse cleanse this event by burning that dogshit take into our hearts & minds. Completely discounting the Black musicians who were 🔫 after trying to promote an activist message——

Every time a young person emails me about what they should do at this moment, I say "organize a fundraiser for someone or a group doing the kind of work you value." I don't usually hear back after that, lol.

The Onion has created a machine that will kill everyone on Earth that is coincidentally running out of money and the only way to slow it down is if my staff and I take a six-week vacation to Cabo San Lucas.

analyzing this using the bloodless realpolitik of the American liberal, defending a small minority group without much sway or cash demands spending political capital. and so if your math works out that we're a bad spend to defend during the election, the math will not change when you're in office

Why's wired reporting slop around this? This article about 'recursive ai' is just stupid ass quotes like this, no explanation on how ai would become self-authoring in a manner of apocalyptic concern. Tbh, Ai rejecting humanity's play book atp is actually good news if AGI comes tinyurl.com/ypkhrmna

Soares, who pioneered work on alignment, a technical field that involves trying to
match AI with human values, says it's also becoming more evident that there is no
practical way to guarantee that AI will behave itself.

"I think a lot of people had this fantasy that [alignment] was going to get easier as these
things got smarter, and now it's getting harder. And they're like, 'Oh shit,"" he says.

"Autism is a dynamic thing. Our sensory & routine-based needs vary according to age & how exhausted we are, whether we are in pain, whether we are comfortable with those around us. How are we picking a day on which to award a "level"? @annmemmott.bsky.social: thinkingautismguide.com/2023/11/what...

What Do We Mean By Levels of Autism?

When "levels of autism" are imposed on autistics without true comprehension of how autistic coping fluctuates, the effects can be disastrous.

Man I been trying to write this blog site about the American tradition of mountebanks and technology and how corporate ai is emerald city and wizards of Oz but these mfers are in full carny panic, bout to give it all away for a ring toss. I think they’ve already seen rapid market devaluation

We Must Pace the Frontier: I've written a new essay on why the Al industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We'll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models' alignment during training.

Last thing I’ll say about Talarico. Is this all the fight you have for a targeted minority you professed allyship with as a white guy who believes in God so much he went to Seminary? If I believed in eternal salvation thru omnipotent god AND I was white?!! Holy shit they’d have to come kill me.

Hey man I know this is a thought exercise for you, but for those of us who work with trans kids in this hell state, the abdication of expressive love for perfunctory condemnation is measured in the heartbreak and harm of our clients who we love dearly. So kindly keep your balloon buttoned on this

Texas Republicans have passed their anti-trans bill.
Over and over Christians used scripture to justify bullying trans kids.
I told them in my faith, God is non-binary. #txlege

As far as I can tell this is the only thing that Talarico actually substantively *changed* his position on; everything else is just restating and defending previous arguments he's made, sometimes with a more conciliatory frame for a conservative audience.
