There is a very loud amusement park right in front of my present lodgings.

Eight months ago, This American Life sent reporters from Chicago to cover the protests and counter-protests outside the ICE facility in Portland. They chose Karlyn Borsynko to be their local guide to the world of Antifa. What they failed to mention is that KB self-identifies as a fascist.

I'm not actually fucking around when I say I'm a fascist.
Most people are not willing to do what is required to defeat the left.

An experienced fact-checker, Linda Qiu, at the most well-resourced and serious news organization in America, STILL cannot manage to call a true statement true: "Susan Collins helped Trump slash Medicaid to the tune of $990 billion.” —Troy Jackson This is true. Here's why Qiu gets it wrong:

Fact-Checking 3 Competitive Senate Races in Maine, Michigan and Ohio

Republican attacks have focused on terrorism and illegal immigration, while Democrats have sought to capitalize on the unpopularity of President Trump’s cuts to Medicaid.

This was entirely predictable: “ICE will promptly release video of shootings and other encounters in which its agents cause death or serious injury only after determining “it is in the best interests of the agency” to do so.”

ICE will release body camera video only when seen in the agency’s ‘best interests,’ policy says

Immigration and Customs Enforcement is moving to equip officers with body cameras in the next two months but the agency’s policy gives it broad control over what footage will be made public.

This also works for “telling it like it is.” Never applies to ideas like “tax the rich” or “abolish ICE.” Only ever said about “slash entitlements” and “we gotta be more racist.”

it's always odd when "you should expose yourself to more diverse ideas" always means a certain kind of conservatism instead of like, Indigenous art, new fusion foods, math paradoxes, or the Dvorak keyboard layout

You might think the US running out of missiles is bad, but we've spent over a century building up soft power with other nations, a vast complex of diplomatic outreach through trade and programs like USAI— oh fuck oh no aw beans dangit

I’m not sure I’ve seen a single Capitol Hill pundit wonder if Trump is asking for election interference or manufactured campaign dirt from Iran as part of negotiations. Considering what he tried with Zelenskyy, I feel like the question is fair game.
