Well, I began #NaNoWriMo by deleting over 7,000 words from my WIP, leaving myself with only chapter 1 to go from. Considering I was able to #write over 2,500 words that I am much happier with, I’m confident I made the right decision. How did your #NovelNovember day 1 go?

Me all day: writing scenes I know I’ll delete because the story is moving too slow: Me in bed, barely keep my eyes open: Figured out how to fix the pacing & increase tension/conflict. Great! Tomorrow I have to delete everything after chapter 1 and start over from there. #Writing #KidLit #Rewrite

Today was a slow start, but in the end I managed 1177 words. Chapter 3 is complete and I’m finally getting to the point I wanted to reach about 15 pages ago. Clearly I’ll have a lot of revising to do, but progress is being made. 😊 #KidLit #Writing #overwriter #progress

My writing process involves writing scenes that I know I’ll end up deleting when I revise because I know as I’m writing they’re not necessary, but if I don’t write them I can’t get my writer brain to move on to the scenes that are necessary. #writing #kidlit #WritingProcess #revision #overwriter

My edits have succeeded in trimming my 99,000 word manuscript to 89,000 words! I have 15 more chapters to #revise, so let’s see how many more words I can cut. 😈 🔪 #editing

I have 16 chapters left to #rewrite & 17 days until my (self-imposed) deadline to finish this draft. Honestly, the fact that I feel like I still have a chance to make it at this point, is motivating me to keep going more & more every day.
