SOME GOOD NEWS! continue to contact your reps re: KOSA and the KIDS Act, but also give yourself a pat on the back if you called! Your voice mattered!
SCREEN Act, which would have required mandatory age-verification for sites (like this) that allow "material harmful to minors" failed to pass out of committee after thousands and thousands of people called their Senators. More work ahead!
If SCREEN were to pass, you'd be required to scan your face and upload an ID to access this site because it allows "harmful" material. This affects you even if you don't care about sex work or porn.
Mike Lee's SCREEN Act, which heads to Senate Commerce Committee for markup on Wednesday, would expand age verification requirements to a nearly limitless scope of websites, and is supported by the architects of Project 2025.
I haven't had much new to post, but I've been hitting up the gym more lately!
Time to vote! If you are voting today, make sure your ballot gets to a BALLOT BOX BEFORE 8PM. I repeat, if you are a WA voter make sure your ballot is IN a BALLOT BOX by 8PM.
NEW: Young people are on the ballot this election, but can we please get young people to the ballot BOX? So far, King County voters 65+ account for 4 times as many ballots as people under 35. You have until 8pm Tuesday to close that gap!
A week isn't gonna do shit. Cancel your PSN+. Don't buy any digital games. Don't pay for any digital goods. Buy physical games second hand. If you *need* to play a game, disconnect from the internet. Add Sony servers to your firewall block.
PlayStation fans are planning a week-long blackout to protest Sony's disc-less gaming future

Go ahead and keep protecting these predators All you want Arizona. You're a goddamn disappointment. No one should be shielded in their church after confessing child sexual abuse. But of course the law is corrupted and won't do anything because the church Is a separate entity.

Twitch and Amazon are apparently planning to use streams to train Generative AI. Multiple sources tell me it will be announced in the coming months, despite some internal friction against it. Creators may be able to opt out of some training data.
In my pursuit of reason and literacy, I was unclear in the original post, so let's be more clear! Fuck Generative AI, and keep it the fuck away from my creative work. Please make your voice heard (in a civil and informed way, to make it harder to ignore) twitch.uservoice.com/forums/92338...

the purpose of the SAVE Act is to take the vote from millions of people, it's that simple - trans people, women who've changed their name, people who don't have access to their documents they are talking about *you*
The SAVE Act doesn't stop non-citizens from voting – it puts the ballot behind a paywall for Americans. If your name doesn't match your license, you lack a passport, or can't afford new documents, Republicans deem your vote invalid. The right to vote can’t come with barriers.
Hey.... like we said, age verification laws would be used as excuse to attack queer content, I just didn't expect it to be used this way, but hey more evidence for why you should be against it.
The Missouri Attorney General is threatening librarians with arrest over an LGBTQ+ story hour for kids, suggesting that a picture book about gay dinosaur dads is "pornography." The Secretary of State says he'll pull funding if the event happens, citing the state's new age verification law.
A Minnesota religious studies professor is facing six years in prison, with the DOJ saying he is part of an "antifa" conspiracy against ICE Erik Davis speaks out about his prosecution, largely based on a handful of his comments in Signal chats. He's not accused of any violence “It’s petty revenge"
The professor facing prison in ‘antifa’ case: ‘They want to scare all who oppose ICE’
