Great to have arrived at #AERA2025 - kicking off with a highly topical session, relevant on both sides of the Atlantic.
“After the Fall” by @dansantat.bsky.social Is possibly one of the most used books I have (I’m on my fourth copy. It’s a clever, thought-provoking book about overcoming your fears. The art is sublime , with wonderful gags and characterisation. Genius! A PSHE must have. #PicturebookPage
A DCU study has found significant burnout and poor mental health among Irish teachers, as well as a large proportion of teachers being “unlikely” to remain in the profession long-term.
A wonderful online event, filled with such authenticity and impactful research in the primary school classroom! Well done to all involved 👏🏻

Meant to post this earlier.... Another good 'starter' book on cognitive science, applied to education, for those who want an introduction. #edchatie
Final thoughts? Share them now! A pleasure to host #edchatie this evening. Thank you to @sccenglish.bsky.social for all the hard work in getting the discussion going again!
Another thing that we might need to consider - much of the cog science thinking that has made its way into education comes from a particular perspective. And it seems to be quite simplistic. There are other ways of thinking about cognition (e.g. embodiment) that have not made the jump. #edchatie
