Very cool to witness the fledging of this wee little Northern Cardinal while having dinner in the backyard! Didn't think we'd be there for the exact moment. Its instinct kicked in really quick, it made a beeline for the cedar hedge after a few seconds of hanging out in the open.

Absolutely love this time of year, when vegetation is still brownish and appears lifeless... Until you hear the great chorus from the birds! Which species can you hear? I had over 20 species just standing in this one spot, including my first 🦊 sparrow of the year!

GREAT NEWS! Birds Canada warmly welcomes the announcement of 11 new conservation projects in Mexico, which together will protect more than 115,000 hectares of critical habitat for #birds – that's an area more than 5 times the size of Fundy National Park!

There's an awesome Chimney Swift roost right in Ottawa - it didn't disappoint tonight! These amazing #birds are threatened. Est. total population size in Canada is 20-70K mature indiv's, which means this single roost hosts a pretty darn significant population.

Yay #birds babies! The Northern Cardinals' nest in the backyard just got way more interesting with the hatching of at least two little ones! They will have some pretty big cheerleaders in the human home next to theirs. (Had a quick check while mom was gone, this will be the only direct peek).

Woohooo, sure am! Celebrated by birding at Long Point with my parents. Mom got to release a Carolina Wren, pretty cool!
