Today we celebrate RNA—one of biology’s most remarkable molecules (biased opinion!). First isolated by Miescher in 1869, RNA is now known as a messenger, catalyst, regulator, and the basis of modern RNA therapeutics and vaccines. It still surprises us every year. Happy #RNADay!

I’m excited to be heading to #PlantBiology2026 in Ottawa, Canada this week! I’m especially proud that two members of my lab will be presenting posters showcasing our latest research on plant extracellular RNA. I’m also grateful to Root&Shoot (rootandshoot.org) for supporting my attendance!!

I’m an NSF panel reviewer that was scheduled to meet today. Just got notice that all NSF panels were canceled today. I reviewed some innovative proposals in support of students. Devastating if these scholars don’t get to do this work. For the love of science & students I hope this is just a delay.💔

Today at #PAG32 we are learning from @jeanmichelane.bsky.social about atmospheric nitrogen fixation in corn aerial roots. Even some #Sorghum aerial roots have bacteria that can fixate nitrogen!!
