As @hebtroco.bsky.social have been discovering since they started... people will tell you they want to shop ethically, they'll tell you they want to 'bring back manufacturing' etc. then when you tell them how much the real cost is... ...well it gets to ugly name calling about hipsters real quick

What Andy Burnham's £80 T-shirt really tells us

This isn't just a story about expensive clothes. It's about where things are made, about why you can't really trust what it says on the label and about what happens after the "end of geography"

old bloke in my local wearing this t-shirt yesterday. It's a case study in quite a few things isn't it? @nateo.bsky.social It wasn't actually this 'design' but the exact wording. Which is its own tale about AI slop and the ability to churn out cheap viral t-shirts.

A t-shirt with an AI generated image of a soldier over a Union Jack flag with large words saying "Sorry if my patriotism offends you. Trust me your lack of spine offends me more"

A rare find at Audlem Festival of Transport... never seen a VW XL1 before! A curio from back when diesel was a possible green solution. 310 mpg was incredible. So was £120k for a 1 litre VW.

Teams of scientists and engineers working around the clock at SpaceX on one of the most challenging problems facing the world today. Can they come up with the incredible technology that allows Elon Musk to 'land' a joke? Huge if true! cartoon by the always amazing @smoothdunk2.bsky.social

Not a lot of tme for bike pics on holiday in Morocco, but noticeable how 95%+ of bikes are C50 clones made by docker.ma - Me either, but they're everywhere! I'm assuming a Chinese Marok collab? Trad brands have had they're dinner eaten up. Fascinating to see what's getting bought en masse #MotoSky

Morocco's ubiquitous C50 clone made by Rocker. This is a strong 90% of the bikes on the road in the country in my short experienceVery common too... a utility trike made by Docker on a larger bike donor, RWD with a differential.A collection of new and shiny BMW motorbikes parked up in Imlil. Moroccan registered, mostly GS's but a K16 too and a poor relation V-strom (anywhere else in Morocco he would be Jack the biscuit, but in this company... not so much)A CF Moto adventure bike parked high in the valley overlooking Imlil Morocco, looking very much the part.

I've realised why May's comment cuts through. He's one of 'their guys'. Also he's flipped it to a driving skills issue... go further make it into a Moto Gymkhana challenge. Who can drive at exactly 20mph through the course? Look the Stig can do it! Are you a good driver? Are you?

Kate Bevan@katebevan.com · 4w ago

almost impressed by the guy who's been in my mentions since last night arguing that 20mph is a trap and too slow and that he's a careful driver in the face of *gestures broadly* everyone else saying "just stick to the speed limit, it's there because it saves lives".

You know when you listen to a well loved track on different headphones and suddenly hear something new? Sat at work and Holding Out For a Hero has a great choppy guitar part in the right channel I'd never heard before... I mean its not like Jim Steinman to add layers right? RIP Bonnie Tyler

For the first time in a very long time I revisited Dr No. Also going through the original books. Always stayed in my mind a bit of a dud film. Old fashioned looking and lacking the 'proper' Bond set pieces, gadgets and stunts. To a 10-12 year old it just didn't cut it. #Bond [1]

When I used to freelance I was often asked if there was work I wouldn't do. 'Yeah I won't design for racists'. Who knew a tech would arrive to remove such troublemakers? Tech for people who can't read to incite people who can't think. Pushed by billionaires who hate all of them.

Excerpts from a flyer produced by the far right created to incite violence in Northern Ireland. It has the errors typical of a piece made by generative AI. "ALL BUNNESSES TO CLOSE" and a clockface showing the wrong time.
