Now open at IWM London, our brand new exhibition "Childhood in War." My colleagues have done an amazing job, and you may well start noticing some of this great marketing out and about. It's an important exhibition, it's powerful - and it's free. Do visit if and when you get the chance
It is of course a complete coincidence that the Met Line can't run a morning service the morning after the World Cup Final and the first day of the school holidays
My colleagues have done an amazing job bringing this exhibition to life, from the curation to the design, and even the marketing copy. Do come and see it in London when it opens on 31 July
‘There was absolutely no chance of being a kid’: new exhibition explores how war shapes children’s lives
Worth pointing out that there's an Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in Mendoza, and Argentina arranged a rugby match against England there in 2017
A sweeping epic of an intergalactic war against fascism, hyper capitalsim and AI

Air show week is always fun at IWM Duxford. Snapped quickly earlier while out and about. Really looking forward to seeing the P-38 flying on Saturday. Tickets are still available for the weekend; www.iwm.org.uk/airshows/dux...
The aircraft is still flying; it's operated by the RAF Battke of Britain Memorial Flight as a trainer for tail-wheeled aircraft
This is the single greatest spy plane ever flown. Well, it's one of two, actually.
Bonus round; England fans and media - Before the World Cup; "this is madness how hot it will be, how will the players cope? It's actually dangerous." - Once the World Cup starts; "These hydration breaks are a JOKE. I can't comprehend a stop in play. FLOG THE PLAYERS INTO THE GROUND"
England fans and media - Before the World Cup; "Let's be realistic. We've not been great in the warm ups." - After the World Cup has started but before 1st England game; "There are some very good teams here, aren't there? It's going to be tough." - Two minutes into 1st game: "IT'S COMING HOME"

Today in 1944 - Sergeant Grant lands on Sword Beach, accompanying troops of No.45 Royal Marine Commando. Panning his camera, he captures a burning Sherman Crab flail hit by fire from a bunker glimpsed top of frame at around 32s. #DDay #filmcataloguing Film: A70 31-2 / www.iwm.org.uk/collections/...
Today in 1944 - Sergeant George Laws films the landing on Sword Beach, and British and French troops fight their way inland supported by amphibious Sherman DD tanks of the 13/18th Hussars, and prisoners are taken. #DDay #filmcataloguing Film: A70 31-3 / www.iwm.org.uk/collections/...
I love this post as a fellow Masters of the Universe fan and also museum curator. Because it's ok to get the specimens out the jars, but you sure ain't getting that Lizard Man figure out the box and ruining it's value
🗡️ At first glance, could you tell which of He-Man's allies were inspired by what reptile species? Nefti Camacho, Collections Manager of Herpetology (and resident Masters of the Universe superfan!), shares the lore.
Glad to see that IWM Duxford made TimeOut's "20 Best Museums in the UK for 2026" list. Come see us! www.timeout.com/uk/culture/b...

Wait, is he doing the Macarena? #Austria #Eurovision
I mean it's still getting 12 points from Greece isn't it? #Cyprus #Eurovision
Sorry BBC but not having Loreen's Euphoria on "Your Ultimate #Eurovision Superstar" playlist means you immediately forfeit all and any right to be taken seriously. It's nearly time...

In July IWM London opens Childhood in War. This free exhibition shares children's view of war from more than 100 years. 450 million children live in conflict zones worldwide; their stories have never been more important. Read more here: www.iwm.org.uk/events/child...
What a thread. Top Gun inspired my love of aviation and I'll never miss a chance to check out an F-14. This one is at Air and Space's Udvar-Hazy Center #avgeek
TOP GUN was released 40 years ago today. One of the definitive 1980s action films, and among the most popular of its star, Tom Cruise, the story behind the scenes will take your breath away… 1/45

The same things could have been written about Germans in NRW and Niedersachsen when British Forces Germany left in 2015-2020. One Bürgermeister had refused to believe it, having adopted the British into a garrison town tradition going back to Hanoverian times www.theguardian.com/world/2026/m...

I really enjoyed Samurai at the British Museum. There are terrific objects that are beautifully presented. But the exhibition also has a great narrative that explores and explodes the mythology that existed around the Samurai, even in their own time let alone in subsequent centuries
