As Trump suggested: the bad numbers are high because of the tests. So the solution proposed was not to test "so much". This was during the C19 pandemic but the same logic applies to all diseases and a diminished CDC. If you test less, you catch fewer cases. Reality though tends to be ruthless.

Surprising fact: We are actually NOT seeing more food recalls this year compared with recent years. What we’re seeing is an increase in the number of illnesses caused by contaminated food. This is the largest ever cyclospora outbreak & third-largest foodborne illness outbreak of any kind on record.

Number of food recalls by year
There have been 162 food recalls posted this year by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Department of Agriculture.

Chart shows yearly food recall numbers from 2017 to 2026.

The arguments against Increasing the tax burden on the rich #taxtherich (that i've heard of): 1. taking all the money from all the rich will not make everybody rich and wipe out all those assets 2. it will just make the rich find other loopholes, or leave the country with their money >>>

Some seconds of one's life are just magnificent. Like when you see something like this and you are in a state of mind that enables you to stop and just... admire it. (and right after, maybe even try to understand if you're of the "researcher type") (ps. this one is not even complicated :D)

I hereby halt your doom scroll to show you this natural phenomenon known as a Light Pillar on a ski run in Austria. Kind of feels like you're being visited by god.

Confirmation bias makes AI-dreams even more dangerous. I asked a question about the prevalence of a health issue in a strain of mice. Google AI gave an answer: 1-4% and 3 references. Looked good but I checked the references. 1-4% - NOT in any of them. And I almost did not check! Sheesh....

I am 100% sure that all those who had an active part in dismantling the healthcare system to make a profit on their alternative medicine and private healthcare investments will be banging on their chest, screaming that they are the victims when it all goes belly up and people start really looking.

The partly reuseable rockets that cost somewhere 15M-30M per launch are sold at 74M/launch to the public and 88M/launch to the Pentagon (with a bulk order). This should transfer (back of the envelope calculation with lots of IFs and BUTs) roughly 1 Billion from taxpayers to Elon. #redistrubtion

You know what I love? Intimacy. Intimacy built upon trust. That feeling you can have with friends, colleagues, spouses, partners, best friends. That sense of peace and faith that the other person will not betray your confidence, your well being, your sense of self, and who want the best for you.
