I dunno: do we count this as a moral loss for the Cubs? I mean, I'm pretty sure that the Dodgers had "momentum" at the end of the game

This game got distressingly interesting in a hurry...
The Dodgers no good, very bad, not at all fun week continues...
PCA might get the Shohei Ohtani Award this year.
The Cubs broadcast booth loves Luis Arraez waaaay too much. They are talking about how dangerous he'll be in postseason for the Phillies because his elite contact skills are the "obvious" antidote to elite pitching. In 70 postseason PAs, Arraez is a .224/.246/.284 hitter. That's a bad 3 weeks.
We should name the crater “Epstein File” and note that it is in ‘honor’ of Trump & Musk in the etymology.

Best acting job since Viggo uttered “Not idly do the leaves of Lorien fall” with a straight face.
this man should get combat pay bc he was FIGHTING here
Clearly the Dodgers should have been sellers at the deadline.
Cookie Monster coming back to sing the 7th inning stretch at Wrigley Field again tonight is what we all needed. Legend.
Futurama’s first episode of the season is dedicated to the loving memory of science, 624 BC to 2026 AD. Should we laugh or cry?
It's getting late, but @brett-taylor.bsky.social is a great baseball blogger and @makeawishintl.bsky.social is a great charity. And, really: how anybody can focus on anything else when the trade deadline is only hours away is beyond me!!! 😎 🤡

It's damn frustrating knowing that the game would be tied if a player had just appealed a call...
Why didn't Nico challenge Ball 4?!?!?!?
lol, Pat Hughes is trying to blame Mark Prior's bizarre running accident (where he plowed/got plowed by a second baseman) on his downfall. It's ok to admit it 20+ years later, Pat: Baker overpitched him.
Yankees announcers are basically: "Well, the Yankees didn't get the one guy who would really have improved the team, so it doesn't much matter what happens going forward." That said, none of the supposedly available SP would dramatically improve their rotation.
I can honestly say that I have a lot in common with millionaires…
STOP SIDING WITH BILLIONAIRES OVER MILLIONAIRES NO WAR BUT CLASS WAR YOU DO NOT HAVE MORE IN COMMON WITH A BILLIONAIRE THAN YOU DO WITH A MILLIONAIRE THIS IS ABOUT SKUBAL BUT THIS IS ALSO NOT ABOUT SKUBAL
Someday, when I'm not desperately trying to catch up on research projects, I'll try to get the data to test my suspicion that the Cubs routinely get outhomered when the wind blows in at Wrigely. I suspect that Cubs batters alter their swings whereas other batters just swing as usual.
huh, that game looks like a box score from the '60s: 2-0 on two solo HR.
Regional accents in the US have declined markedly in recent generations. So, it's kind of cool to listen to the very NYC area accents on the Yankees baseball announcers.
Or 1984.or 1974. Or 1964. It was almost comical watching them struggle to adapt to the post-Soviet world. Fortunately, Karl Marx’s heirs (Bill & Hillary) gave them targets… (“Fortunately” here is for them, not for us.)
Everywhere they look, Republicans see nothing but radical Marxist socialist communists. It’s like 1954 all over again. It’s Groundhog’s Day in the Republican Party. Fascinating look from @sethcotlar.bsky.social in @atrupar.com’s PN: www.publicnotice.co/p/seth-cotla...
Hey, that was totally self-defense!
60 years ago today, BATMAN was released in theaters, and not only is one of the great underrated comedies of the '60s, but when it comes to delivering the message "some days you just can't get rid of a bomb," it's second to nun.
A 5-2 road trip is pretty darn good. Of course, it "feels" like it should have been 7-0, as the two loses wound up being nailbiters. However, blowouts for good teams usually are wins; loses are usually close games. Thus, a paradoxical trait a good team is a lot of "woulda, coulda, shoulda" loses.
Someone named Blaze should not need a pinch runner.
I saw that in December 1992. It is impressive.
The only taxidermied blue whale in the world, 1865 CE, now housed at the Natural History Museum in Sweden. The public was allowed to enter the whale up until a couple was found having sex inside it. Now the whale’s jaws are opened only for special occasions, such as Swedish election days.
I keep singing “Jimothy spoke up with no tail today….” to myself.
