The Kuchiki estate is beautiful in autumn, from the sway of cherry blossom branches in the breeze to the blanket of orange, red, and yellow leaves that cover the ground harmoniously.
Despite having lived there for over a century with Rukia, its beauty never dawned on him until now. Something about having a child that makes you slow down and appreciate life. Ichigo has never been the type but as he’s getting older in his years, he thinks that maybe it wouldn’t hurt to smell the roses every once in a while.
And maybe it wouldn’t hurt to stop and play in the fallen leaves, either.
Not that he has any choice in the matter.

Tokyo Requiem fic exerpt and spot art.

The art shows Goro Akechi in blue jeans, a black leather jacket, black hat, and sunglasses, outside of a building with a red neon sign that says Leblanc, and an Open sign in the window. The fic excerpt reads as follows: It's been months since he's been this way, but not long enough for his feet to forget the winding path through shady alleys and dilapidated buildings, nor the forlorn faces of the folks who call this place home. It's not uncommon for him to seek out the unsavory part of town; a detective must go to where the crimes lead him, after all. Akechi doesn't fear anything; he's been in more than a few close calls, and he's got a good head on his shoulders. But if Akechi had the choice, he'd be anywhere but here at this very moment.
Still, in no time at all he finds himself at his destination. It's just the same as he remembers: a dingy bar that reeks of smoke and regrets, lit only by a faded neon sign: Leblanc. A run-down bar long past its glory days, though the chatter and loud music heard from outside the door suggests otherwise.
