Here in Colorado, it's been very dry and windy. There's a huge wildfire near Pueblo; nearby towns have burned or been evacuated. In Colorado Springs all the commercial fireworks shows were cancelled, and the mayor, the fire chief, HOAs, etc have been BEGGING people not to shoot off fireworks. 1/3

This 🧵 is absolutely the message I want to hear from every Democrat running for office in November: we can't have ANY good things on the policy side unless/until we get rid of Trump and his cronies, and restore and strengthen the balance of powers laid out in the Constitution.

I have a friend from college who has a kind of blood cancer that has no known effective treatment. Her doctor tells her she's probably not going to live another year now. When she was diagnosed ~3 years ago, I told her she HAD TO get her legal affairs in order... and she still has done NOTHING.

This discussion reminds me of a WWII history book I read long ago, "73 North" by Dudley Pope (yes, the guy who wrote the Ramage swashbucklers). But this book was a serious history about the Battle of the Barents Sea, where a few British destroyers beat off a larger force of German heavy cruisers.

I was just reading about those supposed "Trump IRAs". That's not something the POTUS can do via executive order; Congress passed the bill in 2022, and **Biden** signed it into law. All Trump did was stick his own name on it -- he does a lot of that, right? 🙄 www.pew.org/en/research-...

New cat furniture. 😍 I hope this one lasts longer than the previous carpet-covered one.... the carpet was totally disintegrating and shedding tufts and plastic strings from the backing. I'm a little dubious about the wicker beds but so far the cats haven't had any interest in scratching them.

I've made an appointment to have my senior kitty Joe euthanized tomorrow. 😿 Joe has all of diabetes, CKD, and pancreatitis, and has been having a flare-up of the pancreatitis since last weekend. He was already at the vet on Monday to get meds, but they haven't been working. 1/

My project for the last couple weekends has been renovating my craft room (and cat hangout area). New work table and chairs, plus I painted (it's the same color as my office, Behr white mocha with a darker shade in the window bump-out).
