DFIR, security, networking, all things tech, OneWheel, Radinn, travel, LEGO, and probably a whole lot more in small and sporadic bits. (Squirrel!) Fierce and unapologetic ally. He/him/his.

If your party’s position is “yeah, we know there are credible accounts of our people running sex trafficking networks and raping kids but you should definitely let us inspect your kids’ genitals,” I think you should re-assess your affiliation and allegiance.

I think people who can spot motion smoothing on tvs may also be quick to identify slop videos. They have a similar strangeness, IMO.

This is very well-stated. Bigger implication: TAM of centaur users is exceedingly small compared to the unrealistic claims of the fad-marketing machine. When the AI industry collapses, it will be b/c there simply never was a significant market for it. The business model has always been a nonstarter.

That's what business AI-adoption has looked like to me. Management wants a magic button to increase output >2x while cutting staff by >50%. The actual (and few) AI success stories are all "expert in the field is also computer-savvy and built a custom harness for a fractional productivity increase."

“Concerns over fake phenomena cannot be held in good faith.” Absolutely none of these Maude Flanders-ass claims have ever been substantiated. It’s pure, 100% certified brain-free panic. This is why we don’t debate them. They are incapable of reason.

Good-faith concern on this issue would be going, "hmm, professional sports leagues should probably have some standards in place to ensure trans competitors aren't getting an unfair advantage," googling for 5 minutes, realizing every sports league already has those standards and dropping it.

Re-upping for the evening crowd. If someone you know is going to @defcon.bsky.social or @blackhatevents.bsky.social for the first time next week, please share this with them.
