I was told I cannot bring bagels to DoD employees on the last day of a week-long class because it would run afoul of federal gift laws. (Despite the price of one (1) bagel being well below the $20/person/year threshold specified by law.)

I think people who can spot motion smoothing on tvs may also be quick to identify slop videos. They have a similar strangeness, IMO.

This is very well-stated. Bigger implication: TAM of centaur users is exceedingly small compared to the unrealistic claims of the fad-marketing machine. When the AI industry collapses, it will be b/c there simply never was a significant market for it. The business model has always been a nonstarter.

The actual (and few) AI success stories are all "expert in the field is also computer-savvy and built a custom harness for a fractional productivity increase."

I had another thought: It would not surprise me if this feedback loop was build to better train the slop bots to make their slop less sloppy. It would be wholly unlike Microsoft to turn away from something that’s a terrible idea.
