probably just proximity bias, but I’m remembering my time at a Cornell HS summer program. first day, the boys publicly ranked girls in attractiveness. later, a group of boys conspired to steal my journal for insight into my romantic interests. a skit about child rape. constant sexist comments.

The term “remigration” is associated with the extreme right and only came into widespread usage in 2023-4. Even Germany’s AfD avoided using the term in 2024 for fear of scaring away voters. Today the US government is celebrating the “victories” it’s racked up in the “ethnic cleansing” column.

When you compare how much right-wing funding is going into their version of the humanities in higher ed ("civil discourse," "civic thought," "intellectual freedom") vs how little public or private funding there is for peer-reviewed humanities scholarship & teaching, it really makes you think.

We’ve got the inside story of how Trump’s displeasure with seeing homeless people in D.C. became the first domino in a series of actions that culminated in the administration’s stunning decision to weaken the rights of millions of disabled Americans to live in their homes and communities.

How Trump’s homelessness crackdown became a sweeping retreat from disability rights

After issuing a memo making it easier to institutionalize homeless people, the Justice Department began abandoning cases protecting disabled people’s right to live in the community.

Extremely disturbing news about the lawyer defending Donald Trump’s media ban. Watch this sitting down, and please help spread the word. youtube.com/shorts/veF5d...

So as a journalist, I would not grant anonymity to the vice president of the United States. That's not journalism, it's stenography. We are here to hold power to account, not to say how high when they say "jump." This kind of access journalism is part of the damn problem.

Q.: Who was the anonymous source for the story that JD Vance was the anonymous source for the story Trump hated? Nasty infighting and backstabbing in Trump world. You hate to see it. www.status.news/p/white-hous...

This story and the story of the Collins corruption allegations broke the same day, and in one instance the administration is alleging fraud to remove access to healthcare, and in the other they are stopping anti-corruption investigations of political allies.
