The EU may examine the efforts of Russian actors all it wants - I don't expect it to do anything that will address the problem - but ignoring the obvious, blatant, and direct information threat from the US techno-oligarchy is something much graver than simple ignorance on the EU's part. 4/4

Now, I'm telling you this as a person who has studied Russian information warfare for more than ten years: none of the Russian disinformation campaigns linked to the Ceuta crisis can possibly reach the impact of one techno-oligarch spreading right-wing disinformation on the platform he owns. 3/4

This is Elon Musk, a techno-oligarch with 241 million followers on TwitterX, spreading and amplifying Ceuta-linked right-wing disinformation, with one message reaching 9.9 million views and the other 7.9 million as of right now. 1/4

In exchange for the red carpet photos, European politicians gave far-left and far-right an opening to campaign against "sending people's sons to Ukraine to die for Zelensky." What a wonderful, wonderful gift

It's just amazing how much time and political capital Europeans invested in discussing an imaginary peacekeeping mission in Ukraine. And for what? The French and Germans and Brits won't go to war with Russia over Ukraine anyway. Use whatever resources you have to get more guns to Ukraine. And faster

The 1st time I heard Trump speak, I accidentally tuned into Stern & Trump made disgusting sexual remarks about his two little girls’ bodies. 1995, probably. He was so disgusting that I never forgot it. I was horrified when the GOP ran him for president & he “won.” Goddamn idiot Americans. 🤦🏻‍♀️

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services refuses to turn over records about the Trump-Vance admin’s efforts to use and share citizenship data in connection with election-related activities. We’re suing to get at the truth of the admin's election overreach ahead of the 2026 midterms.

🇧🇪 Bart De Wever wants to “dig to the bottom” of the Ceuta crisis and says a meeting of EU leaders might be necessary. “It seems as though there is an open door and that anyone wanting to put pressure on us can use migration as a geopolitical weapon. That is particularly frustrating.”

I must say this is one of the best things I've read in days. Absolutely dripping with charts and insights on the scale and intricacies of the wildfire season in Europe, as things currently stand. It is a complex picture - and yh, it's *bad* in many places. hannahritchie.substack.com/p/europe-wil...

Is Europe having a bad wildfire year?

Several countries in Europe are having a very large wildfire year; this is offset by lower burn in the Balkans

It’s important to understand that when 1.2 million Americans are dying from a disease, any government action is excessive and tyrannical, but if a dozen trans women want to play soccer no government action can go far enough

>Marshals Jean Lannes and Joachim Murat entered the chat< (You know, the guys who walked chatting across the lines over a *mined* bridge and laughed at the Austrian soldiers who threatened them as if they haven't heard of the "armistice". There was no armistice and they took over the Tabor bridge.)

Anyway, I find these frequent 'trick battles' in TV and film (Rings of Power is lousy with them) really annoying because the tricks are things that would never work in a real battle, rather than someone pulling a strategem that was real. Which wouldn't be hard - there are whole books of them!
