Illustrator of dragons, elves, and now horses! NO AI

AP sketching out and about between kids dance and karate lessons. First fresh addition to my AP stockpile for MC Atlanta. I used to abhor drawing in public, but now it’s a fresh change of energy.

I haven't shared this for Lost Caverns of Ixalan – Draft Booster Art. AD Anthony Garzonna, ©WOTC 2023. Everything about this was HARD. There was so much to fill into such a tight area it was a legit strugglefest––the second hardest image I've ever done. The cropped view might help you appreciate why

Been a hot moment since I shared any MTG art... that's what happens when you only do packaging art for 18 months and miss out/turn down card commissions. Captain Marvel – Shooting Star for MTG: Marvel Superheroes AD - Mari Hall

Zul Ashur AP (pre)sketching during kids sports stuffs. Let’s dispel the myth that every sketch “just magically happens”. Most of my APs go through a sketch and planning process that occur on scrap pieces of paper, or in this case a brown paper bag. :)

AP: Emma Frost ala Hellfire costume. Pen & Marker & Gold Leaf. I came across this multicoloured gold leaf where every sheet is a different marbled pattern. It makes every application of it all that more unique.

Day 2 done! For all its challenges surrounding playmats, seeing people genuinely stoked to win an original sketch or snag the very last Eldrazi playmat is very very cool.

Today - ✨advanced shinies✨! On an artist proof, as usual. Took several hours of trial and error, but I have a method now. There's a video below because showing foil effects in a still image is difficult.

An acrylic painting on the back of an artist proof of the foil Island Magic card from the Edge of Eternities set - so 6.3 x 8.8cm big. It shows Liliana casting a very shiny (in a golden kind of way) spell with tiny black stars scattered around it. She's set against a blue background, with a few, less prominent stars to it.
The lineart is also done with acrylics - I'd normally use a fineliner for this sort of thing, but I wanted the lines to be finer than that while still maintaining a good amount of color, so used a brush instead.

Came across an old book cover! I did a lot of these little projects when I first got started. They didn't pay much, but I gained experience. This is why #FUCKAI. Young illustrators/artists need this to grow and develop. So, take all your #GENAI and choke on it.
