Oh dear I've been drawing all these proof sketches and then forgetting to post them! Need to fix that. Today: Aurelia, the Warleader in markers on the back of my "Fiery" from Jumpstart. Held my breath while drawing her face - luckily, no hand wobbles!

An 8.8x6.3cm card with a marker drawing of Aurelia, the Warleader who is an armored angel holding two glowing swords. The whole thing is in black + white + golden tones except for the bright reds in her hair. It was a good blending exercise!

Working on a new piece; thinking about star thistles, how in the western US they are an invasive and noxious weed that readily takes over land that has been disturbed and degraded. or something.

Today - a weather appropriate artist proof painting. This one's on the back of my Screaming Nemesis and the request was to make it a cat! Since my screamy girl has neither pants nor a face, I felt a sphynx cat would bear the best resemblance.

Tokens!! I caved in to peer pressure and painted six tokens featuring my local gremlin (possibly also a cat) Bucha. Today the printed ones came in and they turned out great! They're coming with me to Magic Con Amsterdam, july 17-19. Oh and they're on thematically appropriate artist proofs.

FOOTSTEPS (2026) Acrylic - 12” x 24” Measured in geological terms, the human epoch occupies a footnote in the deep history of time. Like the dinosaurs, will our moment here leave lasting impressions in the soil? Or will our expression of life fall silent like the flutter of butterfly wings? 1/3

In her left hand, she delicately pinches the string of a blue balloon as dozens of pale white and yellow butterflies trail her. From behind, the sun casts a long thin shadow ahead of her. All around her, massive impressions of dinosaur footprints sink into the ground. They run offset in parallel tracks to the low rusty rim of what might be a crater. Mixed among the larger tracks are smaller bird-claw impressions from a raptor.

Today's artist proof sketch - also Chandra! As it happens, I had two requests for her on my list this time, both done in the paint sketch style (which is to say acrylics + lineart) and both on my proof of Powerbalance. So I foiled this one's eyelashes, too. 😁

Today's artist proof sketch - Chandra! I feel very accomplished over successfully foiling her eyelashes. I also added gel to her hair for tangible volume, foiled the little shadows on her collar, added a subtle blue and orange sheen to her eyes etc. All of which is much easier to show on video ⬇️
