I’ve been out of the news cycle the last couple weeks, is sus factory lettuce still making people poop?

If you found out that some genuinely useful software you subscribe to was made or led by white supremicists would you still use it?

If you want good taste you have to eat? Endless consumption is cheap, easy, and doesnt lead to learning or creating anything unique. Instead, get your hands uncomfortably messy. If you want good taste you have to cook.

I'm on website review 85 of 128 and so far I'm blown away with how many excellent and really high ambition 5/5 projects were submitted to the Tiny Awards. I'm not sure if they'll only publish the finalists but basically 99% of what I'm seeing is worth a visit.

The Tiny Awards submissions have all been compiled and there's 123 cool unique websites for me to surf and judge. I have a month but I'm gonna power through and try and get them all done today before the new baby tinyawards.net

I have a weird tech product revelation: I bought bone conducting headphones (Shockz™) for swimming and running (also because my ear wax situation was insane). One unexpected side effect from them is that they've made doing phone calls (eg to my bank) way less painful .. (1/2)

In the latest Dinamo font newsletter, I noticed how upfront and often they emphasized that the promo comic for their new font was “entirely hand drawn”, drawn by hand”, “not a single AI agent was involved”. How long before we see “hand made” badges on software?

Being mad about not being able to buy physical disks seems like it’s actually about not trusting Sony. No one cares that Valve is digital only.

Add Due Dates to Cards with @ [New] Type @ to add due dates to cards. Reminders will be sent on the day of. Bring it all together by combining checkboxes, tags, @-user mentions, and due dates, to do full project management.

Progress update: I'd say that @date mentions is now 95% code complete, there's just work related to the email notification template and some UI edge cases in the date picker. The QA and code review is going to take awhile for this tho, it's a huge change with like ~4000 lines to review 😭

A couple years ago I did a poll asking whether high-quality human customer support was an important part of the decision to buy a product. The conclusion back then is that it mostly mattered for businesses - but the amount I now personally value human support has skyrocketed in a world of ai chat

WIP Sidebar → Date Cards will list your cards with dates assigned to them across your spaces, letting you jump to them for more context

Timeless programming tip: any feature involving time and dates will balloon with edge cases related to timezones, DST, and leap years. Probably other papercuts I'm forgetting rn too.

One thing led to another, and I spent way too long making the nicest timezone picker UI, which most people will only need once if ever. It supports strumming the world map, searching by all major cities, and auto detection. Way beyond scope, but my inner Carmen Sandiego demanded it.

How would the design of keyboards and laptops change if we could all agree that having a dedicated CAPS LOCK key is stupid

Working on adding due dates to cards next. There's a bit of a debate about whether to do timers (eg 30mins) or dates first. They're similar, but different enough to be different projects. I'm tackling the teams/project-planning use-case first because it seems more urgent.

@User Mentions in Cards [New] Based on feedback from the Teams Pilot program, you can now assign cards to space collaborators and group members by @mentioning them. @mentioned users will be notified (in-app or email).

A couple years ago someone printed some sample kinopio logo stickers for me. If that was you *please DM me* – I can't find the convo anymore, or remember what social network you were on

WIP on user @mentions , I can type '@' to select a collaborator or group member. The card atMention data saving to the server is also wired up now. This system supports multiple @mentions per card.

It's looking like the days of tech VCs making 20 moonshot bets/investments with the statistical confidence that 1 of them will 200x in value are ending. Maybe those days are long dead already.

The Kinopio sticker saga continues: so i checked out a local sticker printer (SleepyG Stickers) this morning and got a good impression. I also took some pictures of their print shop
