Here's one thing you can do: a disney+ subscription is around 16 dollars. Go on Patreon/Kofi, find your top 16 creators/youtubers with less than a million subscribers and give them each $1 a month. Changes lives, believe me

I think it's becoming clear that if you like indie creators, you're going to need to support them any way you can. And that doesn't mean money, just spreading worth of mouth can be powerful as well.

I'll say it once and I'll say it again. If you think artists are just "naturally talented", you're deeply wrong. The only difference between you and us is that we kept trying when it didn't come out like we hoped. You can always make art yourself. There's no bad time to start, you can start now.

Once again I will always recommend getting totally obsessed with something you want to see more of as motivation for getting good at creative stuff.

The best way to get better at art is to keep making art and the best way to keep making art is to find a process that is enjoyable to you.

"artists should charge more!" then pay them. Do comission them. tip them what u think they're worth. Artists wont believe they are worth money until u give it to them. They know what it's like to not have much, & hope everyone can afford their art. SHOW them they CAN ask more. Don't just Tell them.

C'est la loi Lang. Il y a une toute petite marge, genre la Fnac est autorisée à faire des prix à -5%, mais c'est pour ça que ça ne sert à rien de demander à la librairie de faire un prix si le bouquin est un peu abîmé: elle n'a pas le droit.

Qu'est-ce qui est bien connu dans votre milieu pro mais surprend les gens ? En France, le prix d'un livre est imposé par son éditeur et le vendre à un autre prix est illégal. Depuis 40 ans. Non, les livres neufs ne sont pas bradés au supermarché ni sur internet. Ou c'est illégal.

Qu'est-ce qui est bien connu dans votre milieu pro mais surprend les gens ? De la même manière que le milieu du livre, le découpage du prix d'un jeu vidéo acheté; la part des différents acteurs de la chaîne de prod qui ont oeuvré pour qu'un jeu sorte est différente en fonction de chaque projet.

Qu'est-ce qui est bien connu dans votre milieu pro mais surprend les gens ? On n'est pas payé pour faire de la BD. Les éditeurs nous avancent des sous, et on les rembourse grâce aux ventes des livres (sur lesquelles ils touchent plus que nous) C'est une AVANCE. Pas un salaire.

artists support each other when systems will not. there's little safety net. it is resilience. artists are not your competitors. artists are your peers, mentors, and the ones who will defend the ability to create sustainably. to those who struggle to continue drawing, you are an artist.
