Keep seeing such a strong parallels between AI use and multi-sport athletes. Play multiple sports for long term development and then specialize to peak. Gain knowledge and skill by learning to do something without relying on AI then use AI to do it faster or better

Lacrosse guy, but no one seems to talk about sports here, so I guess I'm here for the political news? Maybe some finance and economics stuff too? I made @8sites.top
Sharp post — please do make an NCAA bracket app, please do NOT make gambling apps.
I wrote up a bunch of thoughts on what I learned from trying different ways to build an atproto sports app

Trying to finish up writing something about atproto and so close to nerd sniping myself
I'd like to imagine there's some bigwig over at Yahoo who's like, "When we agreed to this we assumed none of you would be using Bankroll Fresh lyrics in your articles." Here's the Week 10 Wrap-up: sports.yahoo.com/articles/pll...
PLL Wrap-Up, Week 10: Not So Home, Sweet Home and Currier the Unicorn
(Photo Courtesy of PLL) The PLL season is not a sprint, but a marathon. Furthermore, it’s not your regular, run-of-the-mill street marathon either, it’s one littered with traps and obstacles impossibl...

There are plenty of real LLM coding skills, but there are so many tips and tricks that by the time word gets out, the next generation of models and harnesses are already correcting and soon enough everything has overcorrected and everyone has the opposite problem
Everyone keep posting about atproto e-commerce until we collectively nerd snipe someone into building something
Explaining the smokey air to little kids is a lot like pretending to have a girlfriend. "No, you can't go see the fire. It's in Canada."
On one hand that was obviously a dive when watched in slow motion from a bunch of different angles, but on the other hand it was good enough acting that it fooled a World Cup quality ref into giving the other guy a yellow
I did it I wrote the article wish me luck Lionel Messi is the GOAT, Ronaldo is not, why just about every statistical analyst agress www.expectinggoals.com/p/messi-rona...
Why Messi keeps thriving as Ronaldo fades: The GOAT's always been the best
I'm not proud, or tired

Cool, added mine! 8sites.top/schlage.town Time to declare @leaflet.pub the official longform publishing app of @8sites.top 😂😇🍃 (Any feedback welcome too; currently thinking about growth, monetization, and how we as an ecosystem can collectively get ppl off substack + onto the atmosphere!)

Okay, today I am shamelessly promoting @8sites.top by agreeing to do something for anyone who adds their top 8 sites Such as: - Add your site to my top 8 - Promote something of yours - Declare your atmospheric app the official ________ of @8sites.top - Provide meaningful feedback on something
The Popehat suspension reminds me that my 2 strongest running a social media site opinions are: 1) Verified accounts are dumb unless you specify what information was verified 2) You shouldn't permanently ban people
My first (completed) atproto project is ready to share. Still needs work, but let me know what you think! Hopefully a fun thing that can improve open web discoverability 8sites.top

The distinction between paying Pat McAfee and paying Pat McAfee's production company is somehow simultaneously both not much of a difference and also a hugely important one
Had a project idea and about to buy the domain before I even start working on it because that way I will definitely force myself to follow through, right? Right?
I have been waiting for my brain to fully process everything and I still can't believe that Shawn Lyght won the Tewaaraton
Congratulations to the 2026 NCAA DI men’s lacrosse national champion Princeton Tigers
What do we have to do to get all these people posting about women’s college lacrosse on here all spring long? Going to have to start posting women’s lacrosse recruiting takes this summer
Abbot: Did you hear about that WaPo video podcast? Costello: That doesn’t get any views? What’s the name of it again? A: Make It Make Sense C: I wish I could, but I’m asking about the name of the podcast. You know, the one that everyone on Bluesky keeps giving hate views to

Bluesky user data is a start of the comparison cherry picking choose your own adventure. Simultaneously exploding, dying and plateauing depending on which narrative you would like to support bsky.jazco.dev/stats
One underrated aspect of why LLMs are so useful for coding is that at this point you have to go install and run so many lines of someone else's code just to get set up to start writing your own. When you consider OS, language, frameworks, etc the original code probably rarely reaches 1% of 1%

The Marshmallow Test - Bluesky signals it's willing to eat its young
At AtmosphereConf, Bluesky celebrated its community, then signaled it's willing to eat them alive. No context. No acknowledgment. I was in the room.

Feels like an extremely similar thing happens with any type of discussion of the usefulness of AI in software
by far the worst tendency on this platform is its tendency to interpret a description of something that happened or is happening as an endorsement of that thing I have been reading Mark on conversion therapy cases for years and he has always been very clear about how awful it is
3 point of Illinois-Houston game scored after 4 minutes of play. Truly a Big 10 night tonight
