Did a rough analysis of current clusters and I think we got enough activity for maybe 5~ good scenes? - atproto obvi - "tech" more broadly - music/film/books, could maybe be split out or one "culture" scene to start - Comics seems to be emerging - games - making/craft juust below the threshold

yep! switch to @leaflet.pub & break the cycle! (or anywhere else: pckt, Offprint, Ghost, Buttondown, lots of good alternatives — tbf none a perfect replacement, we have our work cut out to fully replace, but: here it is *possible* and we're well on our way!)

We're literally watching Substack writers realize they're getting more "followers" (closed) than "subscribers" (open) and worried about the future *again*. I think it's worth breaking that cycle more so than it is to build the next thing.

Overlapping context-specific communities, on a whole spectrum of public commons to cozy private spaces, all interoperable in a global network — yeahhhh we've got a big opportunity here!

yup, for writers, this can be a series of article, a "novel" series, a special journalism project on a special topic I think Substack and Patreon too focused on monthly fee (cuz their income depends on it and the admin cost can be much lower) and this is where leaflet can thrive

Haus of Decline put something I've been thinking about for years into a more succinct and shareable package. Today's #blog post both compiles and expands my thoughts on the word "content" as well as the Likes vs Reposts" debate. Spoilers: Comments are out of style, but they're better than either.

probably not right away but one format i'm personally really into is *seasons* for a publication. I love craig mod and robin sloan's popup newsletters, and i think the idea of a season of something really specific is an awesome creative container and something people would be into paying for.

Yes love this! A whole spectrum of ways we can do this, from simple link in bio to fully custom sites I think @leaflet.pub sits in the middle rn & cool seeing folks use for not just blogs but lil websites as we've added e.g. pages/nav…turns out "can edit in 30s from my phone" = major value prop!

Good roundup of ways artists can use the atmosphere, w/ cool resources like feeds & starter packs, community news (TIL about artfuck!) & even a featured artist spotlight! (and yes we <3 feedback if you have other ideas for Leaflet, or things you'd like to see from other tools, integrations, etc!)
