Monochrome retrogamer. Still playing #GameBoy

I just beat Unearthed for Gameboy Color and loved every second of it. The puzzles are smart and very satisfying to solve. The story and the bleak, oppressive atmosphere are brilliant. Game is beautiful. Simply one of the best games of the GBC. Thanks @jeltron.bsky.social & Gumpy Function.

Just received a Gameboy Color game from Limited Run. The game itself is awesome - brillant design, addictive gameplay. But the packaging is so bad. Cart looks like a cheap aliexpress knockoff, and is not even a GBC cart. Boxart is meh. Why? Why not do the extra effort, given the price?

I know Dragon’s Lair for GBC is a super impressive piece of tech. The only issue is… it’s just not that fun to play. I played a few times, lost, never found a reason to come back to it. Probably did not play more than an hour. No wonder sales were disappointing…

"One news outlet mentioned it briefly as 'a colourized version of the game you've already played before on Game Boy.' They couldn't have been more wrong!". (Repost)

A bit bonkers that a game i was coding 30 years ago is being re-released. I hope they’re using a filter to retain a bit of blur and make the visuals authentic. Some of the technical decisions i made to get so many sprite-based objects on-screen relied on sprite multiplexing and blur
