One time Joe Lhota said he wanted to see some positive tweets about the subway, and I answered the call. Repeal Hecht-Calandra. NYC DOE/NYCPS parent emeritus. All content is handcrafted _just_ for you and represents my personal opinions only

In this Ohio town, it was tradition: Latin mass, eggs and bacon at Bob Evans, a few cable news hits, and then down to the recently destroyed office towers to be lifted and carried by burly firemen. But now the woke mob wants to take that all away.

May I offer some free, unsolicited advice to colleges launching these laudable and necessary initiatives during these troubling times when colleges are under direct attack, and when intentional obtuseness around affordability is a chief vector?

A group of people sit together talking. The text reads Introducing The Wellesley Tuition Promise.

School starts tomorrow. I haven’t seen a single story about either this or the US DOJ’s threat to the Discovery Program (first reported by Bloomberg) Forget our many education reporters—how is “Stanford PhD sues city to get her child into Stuyvesant” not a _New York_ cover story?

School in New York City starts in 9 days (which, lol, but…) The lawsuit brought by an activist arch-conservative nonprofit seeking to place one student at Stuyvesant and partially undo the Discovery Program is headed to the 2d. Cir. The lack of reporting on this is utterly inexplicable

In addition to the preposterous framing this pretty lengthy piece contains no mention of the fact that the attacker is the brother of a Republican operative and large donor to Ramaswamy whom Acton had recently criticized

Dan Froomkin/Press Watch/Heads Up News@froomkin.bsky.social · 2d ago

This irresponsible WaPo headline implies that both sides are responsible for a Republican lunatic attacking the Democratic candidate. The “toxicity” is also mostly a Republican phenomenon.

Again, this is qualitatively different from staging, or using a photographer to get the lighting right. (I do think that using AI to slap California golden hour lighting on Midwest listings gets close.) These listings mislead and/or outright lie to buyers about the product.

There’s an SHSAT thread going in which the “siphon” theory is being invoked, the one that says qualified Black and Hispanic students are eagerly scooped up by elite private schools so of course there wouldn’t be many at the SHS Which…..yikes! But what do the numbers say?

This is somehow still going, and it’s not just a few random families now; it’s also a former mayor of NYC and governor of New York. There is, again, no way to reason to argue Mamdani shouldn’t attend this commemoration that isn’t fundamentally bigoted

Very involuntarily witnessed a not-young couple extreme dry-humping (at least I hope that was the extent of it) on a bench on a not particularly secluded trail at Wave Hill and I am basically on Team Sid Rosenberg - Sean Hannity - Maria Bartiromo - Bruce Blakeman now you guys, I’m very sorry

and if there were any question, NBC's video is directly synced to the daktronics. this is a genuinely undebatable issue that the game was over.

The owners of NYC’s brand-new casino are doing everything they can to persuade Gov. Kathy Hochul’s administration to lower their tax bill by hundreds of millions of dollars. But Hochul appears unmoved — raising the odds the dispute will end up in court.

Queens lawmakers are joining Resorts World’s push, saying the casino expansion could otherwise collapse. Governor Hochul isn’t budging.

I don’t think the giant infotainment screens in new cars are *good* but to be honest I think the actual problem is drivers just straight up looking at their phones while driving
