I think this will be true in the future, about our own time too. Stories about tech oligarchs will have them saying "yes AI is bullshit but we need to fool the masses." Future audiences won't accept that these guys genuinely believed we stood on the precipice of Microsoft Clippy's apotheosis

This is so true - being a trophy spouse is a huge responsibility. You're not only becoming the curator of an enormous estate, you're becoming the forever family of a tiny man child.

Maybe the real moral of Marathon Steve is that the game industry has been so poisoned by the live service model we can't even conceive of someone enjoying a hundred hours of a single-player experience.
Waaaiit. Does the Democratic Party spend resources promoting one candidate over another in its own primaries? If it doesn't, whose time and energy am I wasting by running in a primary?

Don’t rely on our volunteers. Don’t use our infrastructure. Don’t ask Democrats to invest their time, money, and energy in your campaign.
