I enormously enjoyed recording this PPF episode on Major Douglas’s Social Credit - a crank economic theory of the interwar period that caused immense frustration to mainstream intellectuals (including Keynes, Cole, Hobson and Gaitskell) but whose followers ended up taking power in Western Canada.

Really enjoyed this conversation, covering deliverism, post-materialism, Zohran Mamdani's "show-and-tell" politics, and the importance of being willing to make arguments

Great episode of a great podcast. I mostly avoid podcasts that focus exclusively on the politics of the moment. PPF digs deeper and as the name implies, looks both forward and backwards to give a better understanding of the present

NEW EPISODE OUT NOW! For the 1st in a new set of episodes about bad ideas with interesting histories David talks to the writer and broadcaster @helenlewis.bsky.social about hysteria, an ancient idea that became a very modern diagnosis. Find us at...🎧 ppfideas.com

If like me you love the @ppfideas.bsky.social pod & often find its ideas a little challenging at first listen, this thread is an excellent breakdown of the episodes "The Future". An exceptional discussion & the final analysis of the impact of demographics was mind opening.

What if "the future" doesn't have a future? [And neither does the apocalypse] Epic, mind-blowing, troubling @ppfideas.bsky.social conversation between David Runciman and Ivan Krastev. 🧵 Idea 1: The end of the world used to be more egalitarian. Cue nostalgia for universal Armageddon.

NEW EPISODE OUT NOW! In the 2nd part of their conversation about what has happened to our ideas of the future David and Ivan Krastev explore where the future is going next. Why do our expectations of what comes after us shift as we live longer and our societies age? Find us at...🎧 ppfideas.com
