unfortunately the part of the brain responsible for writing can only be activated by passing through this emotional state. i did in fact NEED to have a full blown emotional breakdown in order to access the proper mental state. this is sustainable and i’m not getting weirder every time.

These are an amazing form of science communication! Torn between Whooping Cough or Rabies as my favorite. Wouldn't it be great if they put out a series of one-shot mangas for each disease describing their infection lifecycle?

Why yes, my friends are currently contemplating a Halloween party where everyone has to pick a disease (and be able to discuss it) based on the these characters... I call Plague. sea.mashable.com/culture/1446...

One last piece of news to cap off the year.... the Lee lab is now funded by an ✨NSF CAREER✨!!! We'll explore how transgenerational inheritance affects the earliest decisions in C. elegans embryos AND build new CUREs for our first-gen students. 🪱🧬 This is how we feel about being funded! 👇

Thrilled to receive the NoA for our first #NIH grant, a NIBIB R21 Trailblazer award! This high-risk/high-reward mechanism will support development of new tools to functionally profile circulating tumor cells (CTCs). A huge round of thanks & applause to NIH staff who are working around the clock!

Screenshot of an NIH Notice of Award document from the Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health, and National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering.

As a recipient of federal grants from #NIH (for now! 😭) that funds research in my lab, I'd like to sincerely thank American taxpayers on #TaxDay for investing in scientific research that lays the foundation for medical and technological innovation in this country and keeps us ALL safe and healthy
