PRINCES STREET GARDENS: Thank you to those who came on our first WALKABOUT today. Mainly around East Princes Street Gardens. Few problems encountered, not much litter and a lot of colour in the trees.

The future of Princes Street Gardens hangs in the balance. Can these Friends save it?
Princes Street Gardens has been in a sort of stasis for years, following an unceremonious end to the glitzy £25m regeneration plan amid a global pandemic.

Today’s fire on Princes Street is deeply concerning. Our thoughts are with everyone affected and with the emergency services responding. As the situation develops, we urge the City of Edinburgh Council to seek specialist advice before any decisions are taken about demolition.
Ramps when designed robustly and with materials appropriate to the setting, should be much more ‘sightly’ and sustainable for the large crowds visiting West Princes Street Gardens.
