The order of the quads is fixed. You never choose which one you play. What you do choose is which of its rings faces out — the only say you get over the piece itself, as opposed to where it lands. A quad you can't use is usually a quad you haven't turned yet.

Before you commit a drop, the landing ghost has to answer two things. Would this match? And does it resolve now, or after the sweep line comes back around? My first version put both on transparency. It was invisible. This is what shipped: shape for one question, motion for the other.

Same board, rotated. The line keeps the same speed, seconds per column, so what changes is the period. Short axis: sweeps often, keeps the board tidy. Long axis: sweeps rarely, lets big groups build while it fills up. Same button, opposite strategies.

The sweep used to be a bar that filled up. Watching people play, they'd stop and wait for it instead of placing anything. It wasn't mistuned. It was the wrong object. It's a line now. It crosses the board and resolves matches as it passes. Its position is the countdown.

updated build, link in the repost below swapped out wheel colliders for a custom raycast thing as a number of folks recommended. I think I like it, I can see how I can get the control I want. Pretty bouncy right now but fun to drive around also colors and an island and pretty

wanted something simple, silly to work on to take my mind off things. Making a modular toy car thing. Idea is you can find and swap out various parts want to get in the habit of just posting builds of what I'm making, so here it is. It's not good, not yet oldmanofthefire.itch.io/little-vehic...
