I guess what I'm saying is, I think it's hasty to look at a researcher and reach your own conclusion why they didn't publish a null finding.
I also have to say this, as loudly as I can: this rule has to apply universally, to everyone, with no exceptions, no sweetheart deals, nothing. Period. Either something is wrong, or it is not. Doesn't matter if they're in political sympathy with you, useful to you, or if you owe 'em. No exceptions.
It we want to change the norms in the field, we all have to speak out when something clearly crosses the line. We should also think deeply about how we want to address these issues in academic societies—if someone violates the code of conduct should they win awards and keep positions of power?
I am disappointed to see this kind of situation again. I hope that @polpsyispp.bsky.social takes this seriously and meaningfully addresses this instance and all others like it. Doing so would help to show that it takes its own values seriously, even when this might involve difficult self-reflection.
We need to change norms around sexual harassment Yesterday Tessa West spoke up about a sexual harassment complaint she filed against John Jost. Not only is he a senior colleague in the dept of psychology, but he is one of the most prominant figures in the field of social and political psychology.

Happy to share a new paper in Environmental Politics w/ @jolanda-jetten.bsky.social & Sam Pearson. Across 105 countries (N = 101,956), people in fossil fuel reliant nations were less likely to see climate change as a government priority, more supportive of fossil fuel use, and less so of renewables.
Very belatedly sharing this because the last months were busy: The limits of appraisal theory for political emotions is out in Political Psychology! @gijsschumacher.bsky.social, @mrooduijn.bsky.social and I ask whether appraisal theories of emotion work the same way in politics as in everyday life.
The limits of appraisal theory for political emotions: Evidence from two U.S. surveys
Emotions, such as anger and anxiety, play a central role in political behavior and are extensively studied by political scientists. However, political science has largely adopted psychological theori...

✈️ 🌍 I am starting my trek to Newcastle upon Tyne for #ISPP2026. If you're there, consider joining Session 92 on Sunday at 8:30 AM to hear about how memes critical of the economic system produce specific representations of the working class (and why we should care!) Short thread on results 👇
College students are not unable to read. They are not unable to write. Ask yourself who wants to denigrate the abilities of young people. Ask yourself who benefits if employers are convinced young adults are incapable. I’m sick of myths being pushed about young adults. They are BS
