It's hard to definitively prove fraud, but this is a shockingly clear case. I cannot fathom a plausible alternative explanation. Dan Ariely faked data. P.S. You simply must read the actual post. It is absolutely riveting. Amazing work from the @datacolada.bsky.social crew. And, also, great writing

What gets me most of all is that if the Dems lose Michigan, the narrative will be that they lost because of the candidate's politics, rather than centrist Dems refusing to vote. But when centrist dems lose THEIR elections, the blame is on non-voters. The double standard is obvious and blatant.

"I have a question about the critical Michigan Senate race: Are centrist Democratic officials and pundits going to spend the next 60 days loudly making the Republican Party’s arguments for them?" from @ryanlcooper.com. prospect.org/2026/09/02/a...

A minor Daily Wire personality, Michael Knowles, said something like this a few years back & even then got put on the defensive over saying something genocidal. It was not so long ago NC's Pat McCrory ended his political career over a bathroom ban law. There was a normalization push to get here

Someday soon hes going to be over and trans folk will continue to exist and, hopefully, thrive, for as long as there are humans on this planet.

JD Vance's behavior follows a classic pattern of racial triangulation that we are familiar with from the War on Terror days: he is positioning himself as a White Savior of a Brown Woman from the Vicious Savage Attacks of a Brown Muslim Man. The NYT credulously adopts this framing:

Greg Sargent@gregsargent.bsky.social · 7h ago

JD Vance told El-Sayed to stop invoking Usha after AES said: "Do we think JD is taking Usha with him back in time to meet Papaw, or no." But it turns out AES offered this *in response* to something vile that JD previously said about how Papaw would have viewed AES: newrepublic.com/article/2149...

"And she was very, very concerned about the way the Welsh Gender Service made her feel like the enemy for raising these questions." M'am, you were trying to interfere and stop the provision of healthcare to your ADULT child, you very much are the enemy, your do not own your child

Sarah Clarke - Not your doll@damselindystopia.bsky.social · 10h ago

I am absolutely, 110% confident that the *adult woman* being discussed here has seen multiple psychiatrists and been repeatedly checked for proper understanding of the surgery and its consequences because that's what fucking happens with NHS trans surgery referrals.

The endless takes demanding "moderation" from Democrats never spell out precisely how this message is supposed to be delivered. "I am pro-trans but not too pro-trans" looks to the left like you are anti-trans and to the right like you are not anti-trans enough.

The problem with having very few reporters working who’ve covered sports for a decade and anti trans political developments for a decade is anytime there’s discourse it takes like six extra pieces to show how all the groups coalesce towards defunding public schools and repealing Title IX.

Rachel Cohen Booth@rcobooth.bsky.social · 2d ago

this new Heritage Foundation report is much broader than "protect women's sports". It argues Title IX imposed a male model of competition on women, encouraged us to become dominant and aggressive, and pulled us away from traditional femininity and motherhood

Conservatives don't believe in social science because they CAN'T believe in social science because the social sciences prove quite conclusively that their entire worldview is wrong When they attack "academia", what they are attacking is the people who sit around proving that they're full of shit

Evan Urquhart@evanurquhart.bsky.social · 2d ago

But, I think it's also important to understand the dual purpose behind creating documents like this. Because, if you focus on just the anti-trans intent and the shoddiness of the work, you might lose track of this: Conservatives don't believe in social science.

This. Also, not for nothing, but it's worth noting that both pollsters and researchers consistently find that one of the most reliable protective factor against anti-trans disinformation is just...knowing a trans person, interpersonally (read: beyond just on hellsites like this).

sasha@2damntrans.bsky.social · 3d ago

it’s also a problem ofc that there aren’t all that many of us and most cis people don’t know trans people, or at least don’t know us well. it’s the perfect environment for bad actors to just lie their way into manifesting the eliminationist political approaches and “guidance” that they want.

It's worth noting that this is also true of most "gender critical" women, for that matter, they simply believe that they (GC women) are those who will occupy the paternalistic/protector role of the "vulnerable" rather than GC men because they are also hostile sexists (just like GC men).

sasha@2damntrans.bsky.social · 3d ago

But as I’ve said before “gender critical” men are “benevolent“ sexists. That most cis women don’t share their views is neither here nor there for them: they think that they know better, that they must intervene to protect cis woman *from herself*, as much as from the imaginary trans woman predator.

"But I promise you, students want real educations and will come for them, rather than be forced to listen to a CEO tell them that capitalism rocks." It's beyond time for universities to defend their worth in broader terms than just make more $$

David M. Perry@lollardfish.bsky.social · 3d ago

Red State Universities: we believe in indoctrination and job training Students: we hate that is there another option? Blue State Universities: we promise to have no values except job training. It ain’t enough. My latest. Gift link.

For many, today is the last weekend before school restarts. Sorting uniform, finding books, preparing to be reunited with friends. For my kid, who won't be returning to school, it is a time of huge uncertainty. We don't yet have a clear path forward. English schools are no longer a viable option.

Cal Horton (they/them)@fiercemum.bsky.social · 2mo ago

Just had meeting with kiddo's school. She has been fully supported, treated with full equality & dignity for years. All of that changes from September. Full segregation & humiliation across the board. The school staff cried in the meeting. This will absolutely lead to children's deaths 1/2

Not for nothing, but having read the report itself, I want folks to bear in mind that all of this--literally all of this--is based on correlations calculated between variables that violate assumptions of the statistical tests conventionally used to calculate correlations.

Rebecca Solnit@rebeccasolnit.bsky.social · 3d ago

This report is totalitarian pseudo-science, aka corrupted science in the service of far-right authoritarianism. Who commits most of the political violence in this country has been clear for decades. It's not the left. It's not those of us who support trans rights and realities.
