And his walk up music was always something she recorded, and I’m sorry but Christian music is pretty terrible.
It’s extremely messing me up that I had to hear clips of her screeching ‘Bennie and the Jets’ at Wrigley because of Ben Zobrist.

You read this and definitely come away thinking you are not getting the whole story.
It is extremely fucking me up that this is about Ben Zobrist
Raise your hand if YOUR team is playing baseball tonight!
World series day!
When the postseason started and the Rays were taking on the Yankees, I knew the non-Yankee part of the baseball world would have our back because….yech, Yankees.
I’m used to having the Rays go up against some big market behemoth with obnoxious and entitled fans. Not quite sure how to feel about facing @brewers.com and @brewcrewball.bsky.social
How much it cost for four seats in section 142 the last time I attended an ALCS Game 1 vs how much it costs for one seat in section 142 today
I am unfamiliar with the "yell at the customer" variety of capitalism but it seems to me that it's not a great economic model. How about figuring out what folks in the poorest (by per capita income) MLB market will actually pay to sit in the upper rows of the 3rd deck?
MLB is all about capitalism, until it comes to setting ticket prices. My sister TB fans will be called bad fans when there are empty seats at tonight's ALCS opener, but why are our tix priced similarly to NLCS tickets in LA? I thought capitalists were supposed to be good at understanding markets.
It makes me nuts that Rays fans can't enjoy a postseason without hearing about how awful we are for failing to buy up every single ticket at the stadium. ARGH.

The Rays couldn't possibly win three in a row, could they? Well tonight will be a difficult battle, but there's always hope! www.draysbay.com/rays/2448083...

An economist doing nuanced work on rent regulation? Using painstaking mixed methods? Someone needs to hire @wbthorne.bsky.social
it took a year or so of manually coding the design features of many many rent control regimes, but you can find such an effort and breakdown here: bsky.app/profile/wbth...
Voting is a bus ride, not a marriage. You take the bus that gets you closer to your destination because no bus stops at your exact address.
For those of you Rays curious, the one and only Rays blog is @draysbay.bsky.social. Since local journalism is nearly dead and The Athletic doesn’t bother to cover us, finding good Rays reporting can be a challenge.
BlueSky is the perfect place to find that sliver of the universe of politically engaged left-leaning people who ALSO love baseball, so let me note that the two times the Rays have gone to the World Series we’ve had a blue wave.

So confusing: the broadcast was replaying Junior's Friday walkoff HR and then suddenly he was actually hitting a walkoff HR and it was hard to tell what was past and what was present and maybe even what was future. Anyway, magic number down to 9. www.draysbay.com/tampa-bay-ra...

To baseballsky folks: the sounds of baseball. Do you want to hear nothing but the crack of bat on ball? What do you think of player walkup music?

At age 12, I was a charter subscriber to Ms. Magazine. It was breathtaking to have Steinem and others show that a new path for women was possible.

Vindman ran a really pathetic campaign. I have no idea what he was thinking. Other than his fund-raising pleas, he was invisible. I admire Nixon but I see little chance that she can win the 75% of NPAs she'll need in the general.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Angie Nixon wins Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in Florida special primary election.

I’m reading There Is No Place for Us, by @brian-goldstone.bsky.social and one thing keeps hitting me over and over: Homelessness is rarely a single event. It’s a cascade. A cancer diagnosis. A lost job. Depression. A missed paycheck. A broken car. A wait for mental healthcare. An eviction. 🧵

"US intelligence agencies" LOL like this requires some kind of deep intelligence gathering. Netanyahu gave an address to Congress in an effort to undermine US efforts to reach a lasting peace with Iran.
Exclusive: U.S. intelligence agencies have warned the Trump administration that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is likely to take steps that will undermine President Trump’s effort to reach a lasting peace deal with Iran.
The Trump administration is awful, of course, but I blame FIFA for failing to pull the tournament out of the US last year, at which point it was clear that Trump’s immigration policies would create this sort of barrier for players, officials, media, and fans.
