The names of next week's Fields Medalists has leaked, and amazingly not one of them is winning the award for solving an Erdos problem. Based on everything I've seen on social media and the news, I thought that's all there is to math.

Humans (homo sapiens) have roamed the Earth for 300,000 years. Dinosaurs made it over 500x longer (165 millions years)—and they achieved that without any longevity podcasts or tech startups aimed at extending the light of consciousness. Impressive.

It’s funny how people act like once Claude starts doing recursive improvement we’ll lose control and no longer understand how it works. It’s half a million lines of code wrapping a trillion parameter neural net. You already don’t understand how it works.

Why is so much pop math writing like “the formula involves addition—an operation where the values of numbers are combined, as in 5+3=8—and semi Hodge-theoretic neo-Riemannian integration. Surprisingly, the authors proved the formula is quasi-invertible when the Sasquatch locus is homogeneous.”
