Today's announcements double down on approaches which have already led to record deaths, with more children killed last year than in the past four years combined. We urgently need to depart from these deadly policies.

The new UK-France border plan aims to let police attack boats filled with people seeking sanctuary 300m out to sea. This will kill people. We're one of 65+ refugee groups on both sides of the Channel telling our Governments to work together to protect lives, not put them at risk.

Numbers we'd like to see come down: - People dying in the channel - Children traumatised by violent border enforcement - People unable to return to work due to the damage of the asylum work ban Numbers our Government won't even count, while the media obsesses over how many people survive crossings.
