Today's Formula 1 race, the British Grand Prix, is absolutely a race I would show someone if I wanted to convince them that F1 is a stupid waste of time. And I don't just mean the ending.

I like that MacOSX managed to copy Windows' behavior of media keys, where it's permanently unclear and entirely inconsistent which program will respond to Play/Pause/Forward/Backward.

I like apps that are continually asking me to enable their push notifications. Sure I didn’t do it the first hundred times, but maybe if we push the banner now it’ll work!

As much as CMake absolutely infuriates me in a hundred different ways, I have to concede it is at least a real functional build system that is fairly complete. This is unlike MSBuild, which is like a parody of a build system meant to mock those foolish enough to depend on it.

Honestly, my life in startup land is proving to be much more stable than most of my friends working at large established companies that can supposedly afford to think long term.

I finally traded in my iPhone 12, haven’t felt compelled to upgrade at any point but the carrier promotion was solid and I was tired of Lightning cables. Five generations seems to be a nice sweet spot for feeling like a worthwhile upgrade.

As I'm coming up on 1000 hours on Hitman World of Assassination, I could really use a new game with the same general vibe. Meaning it's not overly dependent on precision or reaction times, more planning oriented. But not an outright puzzle game. Accepting suggestions.

I’m probably going to buy a new iPhone soon, but I hate that I’m doing it. IMO Apple has made nearly everything about the platform and OS worse to use, and fallen far behind Android’s other capabilities. But I see no way to get an Android without welding my data to Google and I just won’t do it.

I've got a new blog post for all of you fine folks! It runs through the additions to D3D12 since it was released, and finishes up with some of the things that have changed for me personally in my code. (And yes it's really been 10 years 👴). therealmjp.github.io/posts/ten-ye...

Ten Years of D3D12

For those of us that have been using it from the start, it can be hard to believe that Direct3D 12 has been around for nearly ten years now. Windows 10 was released on July 29th 2015, and D3D12 has be...

I wasn’t planning on becoming an Orange fanboy, but this cab is thunder. Kinda makes a mockery of my Marshall 1960 actually. It’s the PPC 212 V, which is loaded with a pair of Celestion *Neo* Creambacks and a very relaxed 44 lbs of total weight.

An EVH 5150 III EL34 50W guitar tube amp sitting on top of the black Orange cabinet described in the post.

Rec Room was fun, but had to lay off a lot of folks, so I am looking for the next opportunity. If you are looking for a senior graphics coder to solve all your rendering problems on any platform, either remote or in the Seattle area, I'd love to hear from you. Picture is purely for attention.

Me driving a white Caterham Seven race car, going wheel-to-wheel with another Caterham on the track.

The slow realization that Pokémon is much, much bigger today than it ever was in my childhood is absolutely baffling. We considered a phenomenon 20 years ago. I like it, but how strange.
