The future of the Democratic Party is proportional representation. The left and centrists should have their own parties which win representation in Congress that’s equivalent to their support in the public. We deserve a better system that enables more parties—and people—to win representation.

In a modern political system with proportional representation, DSA, establishment Democrats, Blue Dogs and Never Trump Republicans could each have their own party. In our system, we’re all forced to pretend we agree. We should all stick together against the fascists for now—but also push for PR.

A lot of intra-Dem fighting is b/c factions are forced into competing in a single primary electorate. It'd be much healthier if it was openly a matter of each going out and winning its share of seats in accordance w/ its general election votes and then having an inter-party coalition shaped by that.

#ProportionalRepresentation would end gridlock. Two parties inevitably view each other as mortal enemies. Multiple competing parties build relationships because they know they have to find allies.
