we're all just trying our best and that's okay :) [ proto.cool | playghostlight.com ]

Imagine explaining this weekend to someone offline. “Some folks made a website that ranked posters for fun. It was fun for a day. Then we found out a robot helped write it, so we boycotted the leaderboard and dogpiled the dev.” What a stand! Truly the asbestos fight of our generation.

it’s pretty wild that we as a society of have just completely normalized (and at times encouraged) people to act insanely rude and inappropriate to complete strangers online, in ways they wouldn’t in real life, to the point that a lot of pro-social behavior has is even stigmatized on social media

hi, i'm Nick 👋 I'm a solo dev making Ghostlight - a survival RPG where the ground is paying attention. 🌚 nine days ago a written-off planet started thinking. you survive it, then teach machines to do it for you. runs in a browser. no release date yet. devlog + a wallpaper at playghostlight.com! 😎

Ghostlight — a survival RPG on a planet that woke up

A survival RPG with idle progression and automation, where the ground is paying attention. Nine days ago a written-off planet started thinking. In development, no date announced.

well GitHub already pissed me off by making me run CI on my own build orchestrator in the cloud. it's not free anymore but a build only costs me $0.20 max and it's worth it to not deal with this Microsoft bullshit so anyway I'll be migrating my actual Git repos away from that hellhole now 🫠

vibe coded myself my own fedora silverblue spin so I see the word "fedora" much less. it's basically just a vibe coded bazzite image lmao

a screenshot of a linux terminal for the command "pulsar manifest" with the output:

I hate how the deluge of vibe coded frontends has me wince every time I see a specific font like Space Grotesk

before agentic coding: *writes code* *doesn't release* *gets busy, reviews a month later* what the fuck who wrote this over-complicated shit after agentic coding: *has robot write code* *doesn't release* *gets busy, reviews a month later* what the fuck who wrote this over-complicated shit

FYI - the impetus for this was getting Halo: Campaign Evolved playable on my Fedora Silverblue setup. It works (as in it launches without issue) out of the box with Steam's proton-experimental default, but not a great experience. Now it's perfectly playable

I have brain damage; I use (and prefer) GNOME with fractional scaling on my gaming laptop. Clauded up a bash script that kills the display scaling per-launch, bumps font size to compensate (poor man's fractional scaling), then puts it all back. Hope it's useful to someone else

this is your reminder to make sure you have at least one (1) offline only capable video game installed on your computer in case your fiber optic goes down for four consecutive days

opus: now is a good stopping point - this is a high-leverage commit for you to review me, absolutely fucking clueless, has been eating chocolate dipped pretzels for the last half hour: LGTM 👍
