society erred when we removed the computer from its honored place in the home and ushered it into every part of our profane world. we must rebuild the temple of the Computer Room

Courtesy of several excellent @re-verse.io conversations, I have been learned that reverse engineers don’t just hide in dark basements, but are sometimes found around blue skies. Sounds like a good time to dust off this account.

My hobby: when using chat-support, I always try to get the last word in and phrase things for no easy reply. Don't say "thanks"--say "great" when they say something good. Otherwise "you're welcome" is the easy quick reply. It's gamifying time tracking if they're measured on it for faster resolution.

My second favorite part of having find my or Google sharing with a bunch of friends is slowly seeing them converge for a con or event. See everyone soon at ShmooCon! (First favorite is being surprised to see friends in random locations we were both at without knowing)

Is there anything as good of a value as the elgato camlink for actually capturing 4k video? Almost all the 4k capture things you find are really 4k pass-thru w/ 1080p capture.

Instagram must have recently made it harder to share URls without doxing yourself. On the mobile app you have to share the page, then paste into an incognito session then copy the new URL without the igsh parameter.

Been experimenting with apple intelligence. I can ask it to show me the hourly temperatures for tomorrow. But ask it at what hour during the day it will get warmer or colder than a specific temp? Nope. This feels very doable...

Ok, this might be the neatest #BinaryNinja feature– `current_function.request_debug_report("high_level_il")` It renders the decision tree that the decompiler followed, step by step, to decompile that specific function until it reaches the intended level (High Level IL in this case).

In 2025 (less than 30 days away), PayPal will start selling your transaction history for targeted advertising. I very highly recommend logging into your account and going to Settings > Data & Privacy > Personalized Shopping. If you're reading this, turn that off RIGHT NOW before you forget.

A screenshot of PayPal's terms of service. Big wall of legalese text, which I will be pasting in below. You don't need to read it, here's the important part:

"The key update to the Privacy Statement explains how we will share information with merchants to personalize your shopping experience and recommend our services to you. Personal information we disclose includes, for example, products, preferences, sizes, and styles we think you’ll like. Information gathered about you after the effective date of our updated Privacy Statement, November 27, 2024, will be shared with participating stores where you shop."

Here's the whole paragraph:

We are updating our Privacy Statement to explain how, starting early Summer 2025, we will share information to help improve your shopping experience and make it more personalized for you. The key update to the Privacy Statement explains how we will share information with merchants to personalize your shopping experience and recommend our services to you. Personal information we disclose includes, for example, products, preferences, sizes, and styles we think you’ll like. Information gathered about you after the effective date of our updated Privacy Statement, November 27, 2024, will be shared with participating stores where you shop, unless you live in California, North Dakota, or Vermont. For PayPal customers in California, North Dakota, or Vermont, we’ll only share your information with those merchants if you tell us to do so. No matter where you live, you’ll always be able to exercise your right to opt out of this data sharing by updating your preference settings in your account under “Data and Privacy.”
