Do you ever feel like cities have thoughts? Like the collective desires and feelings of everyone that lives there could be defined as a city thinking? Anyway, here are some thoughts from the city I've collected recently. #rebelloon

Incurably curious about everything computer security, even after too many years in the business. Also, I write things. https://www.megancarney.com/
How many markers does it take to finish a coloring page? The answer is always: all of them. More practice from @jazzastudios #alcoholmarker master class.
I'm not a big country music fan, but I admired Dolly Parton. When I hear she died I remembered this podcast. Highly recommend. www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/dol...
Joined a collective impromptu mission to help baby snapping turtles across the path yesterday.
The first of the illustrations from @gargoyle.pastures for my upcoming short story collection "Blessed by the Algorithm". So excited to see the rest. buttondown.com/megancarney/... #booksky
This is why I don't use AI when I'm writing. As Joan Didion said "I don't know what I think until I write it down." www.nytimes.com/2026/08/04/o...
I am truly honored and humbled to be Minnesota’s Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate. Thank you, Minnesota – for everything.
One of these flowers is not like the others. The squash takeover of the garden is almost complete. #bloomscrolling
Bee morning meetings: first photo in the squash flower conference room, second photo in the sunflower conference room. #bloomscrolling
Fungi seem so otherworldly I forget some laws are universal; some species attack or parasitize other fungi. My favorite part of this picture is you can see the attacking mushrooms in all the sizes. #fungifriday
I love these striped(?) yarns look when they become socks. Almost like clouds on a sunset. #csmknitting (anyone know if there's a name for this pattern on the yarn? the wrapped colors that look like little stripes?)
These Rattlesnake Master flowers were very popular over the weekend. Standing there for just five minutes I counted three bee species, one black wasp(?), some kind of fly, and one beetle. I'm not sure the black wasp is a wasp, it had the body shape of a wasp but no yellow stripes. #bloomscrolling
Keep forgetting to post these pictures of bees. And one random cute orange beetle. #bloomscrolling
Just me nerding out on some infographics. (Srsly, this a super cool visual deep-dive on the interplay between immigration, immigration policy, and the echoes of political decisions made decades ago. Also, apropos for a 250th democratic birthday.) www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Melting pot, tapestry, mosaic, kaleidoscope, salad bowl. Every cliché is true.

"The Witches of Moonshyne Manor" is exactly the book I needed this week. It's a book about good people with good intentions doing their best and sometimes making mistakes and then figuring out how to move forward. #booksky
Ankle socks made using the sock tube method - surprised/delighted at the yarn's pattern. I made a long tube on my CSM then divided the tube into six shorter tubes. The ankle/cuff/heel are made out of a silk yarn I found at the makerspace. Feels really lovely. Four more socks to go. #csmknitting
This morning the robins waited impatiently for me to finish watering the garden so they could swoop down to hunt worms. These are bean vines finding their way up the support strings. #gardenthoughts
They laughed at Barack HUSSEIN Obama for being dumb enough to give them $1.7 billion dollars, but they respect Mr. Super President Trump for giving them $300 billion dollars, they respect him so much
Trump: "You know what the Iranians did? They laughed at Obama and they said he's a stupid son of a bitch."
Luckily there was one undecorated thermos left in the house for @bayleejae.bsky.social stickers from the froggy chaos collection.

Be honest. If you were at my house and I served you tea in this cup, how would you feel? Cup was on sale at a local coffee shop #coffeethoughts
This month's writing newsletter is actually about gardening. (Anyone else watching "This is a gardening show"? I recommend it.) #gardenthoughts buttondown.com/megancarney/...
Coffee shop blossoms - my favorite coffee shops have real plants. I know it's work. But fake flora doesn't have the same vibes. #bloomscrolling
Is it too early to plant beans? Probably a little. But I did anyway. I also mixed all the seeds up so I'll end up with a wall of vines with colors scattered everywhere. Hopefully. No guarantees in gardening. #gardeningthoughts
Remember those gold Trump Mobile phones that the Trump family started selling in June 2025? After updating the terms on the Trump mobile site to say "no guarantee of release, delivery", Trump Mobile is claiming "the phones are in the mail."
