Generally enjoyed The Odyssey, but spoiled by the fact that at no point does Odysseus stare at his sword and mutter “made with the finest Cornish tin.” Completely took me out of it what a waste.

The bighead and silver (aka Asian) carp have been swimming north into Lake MI for years....this was an effort to help protect the $multi-BILLION tourism, fishing, etc. industries in the region. This is VERY bad for not only MI but all Great lakes states and Canada. 🧪🦑🌎🧬

Amnesty International put out a major report documenting the influence of UK based anti trans gender critical organizations and their funding. Within hours, GC groups threatened defamation lawsuits and Amnesty was forced to pull it down. Proving the point they're anti rights. Anyways, here it is.

Did you submit yours yet? The deadline is soon - July 13. This is essential to save science and research in the US.
Most of the federal agency science budgets goes into the salaries of students and trainees, and the decision to take that money and instead give it to industry and already rich venture capitalists is fundamentally a decision to have many fewer scientists and do far less science in the future.

I'm spending the week at @uofwa.uw.edu's Friday Harbor Laboratory in the San Juan Islands, doing some #scicomm work and (hopefully) writing papers, if the scenery is not too distracting
Gavin Snider had only been a full-time artist for about 10 months when the Knicks hired him to create a piece ahead of the 2026 NBA Finals. Shortly after the Knicks shared Gavin's watercolor, Devon Rodriguez posted an oil painting with a similar composition... right down to the jersey numbers.
